The Seahawks traded for Adams knowing they would have to make him the highest paid safety in the NFL. With this extension, Adams will be locked in with the Seahawks through the 2025 season baring any injuries or unlikely trade scenario.

The former LSU Tiger was drafted by the Jets in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. After just four seasons in the NFL, Adams is widely considered to be the best safety in the league. He has been selected to the Pro Bowl the last three seasons, and made First-Team All-Pro in the 2019 season. Adams has missed only six games in his four-year NFL career.

Denver Broncos safety Justin Simmons was previously the highest-paid safety in the NFL, averaging $13.7 million per year on a $61 million deal. With this new extension, Adams is now the highest-paid safety in the league as his deal averages $17.5 million per season with $38 million in guarantees. Based on average per year salary, Jamal Adams’ contract extension ranks him first among all active safeties in the league.

Viewed as a box safety, or strong safety to those less versed in NFL terminology, Adams is far and away considered the best at the position in the league. His sack numbers have been climbing exponentially season to season. Just last year, he recorded nine and a half sacks in 12 games. That tied Adams for 11th best in league, something that is unheard for the safety position. Now with this new extension locked on, Adams can focus on helping a Seahawks defense recreate an elite defense that has not been seen in Seattle since the fall of the Legion of Boom.

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Jamal Adams has signed a massive contract extension with the Seattle Seahawks that makes him the highest paid safety in the NFL.

[36,32
1275,246,7282
post-119656","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-news","category-seahawks","tag-jamal-adams","tag-nfl-news","tag-seattle-seahawks-news
["GET
