{"id":11523,"date":"2017-01-27T21:27:38","date_gmt":"2017-01-28T02:27:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonprofootball.com\/?p=11523"},"modified":"2017-01-27T21:27:38","modified_gmt":"2017-01-28T02:27:38","slug":"atlanta-falcons-can-win-super-bowl-li","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2017\/01\/27\/atlanta-falcons-can-win-super-bowl-li\/","title":{"rendered":"How the Atlanta Falcons Can Win Super Bowl LI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What the <strong>New England Patriots<\/strong> have accomplished over the last decade and a half is no less than remarkable.\u00a0 <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BradTo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tom Brady<\/a><\/strong> and <strong>Bill Belichick<\/strong> will go down as one of the best head coach \u2013 quarterback combinations in <strong>NFL<\/strong> history.\u00a0 Beating a team who appears destined for greatness this year may seem impossible.\u00a0 However, there are ways the <strong>Atlanta Falcons<\/strong> can overcome this challenge and beat New England in <strong>Super Bowl LI<\/strong>.\u00a0 Atlanta has an extremely potent offense and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/RyanMa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Matt Ryan<\/a><\/strong> is having an <strong>MVP<\/strong> caliber year.\u00a0 The Patriots do not have many weaknesses in their armor.\u00a0 However, the weaknesses they do have will benefit Atlanta.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>How the Atlanta Falcons Can Win Super Bowl LI<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h3><strong>Take Advantage of Weak Pass Rush<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>New England and Bill Belichick have a philosophy and a system set in place, and it works.\u00a0 If a player is not willing to buy-in to that system he quickly finds himself off the roster.\u00a0 This was the case with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CollJa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jamie Collins<\/a><\/strong>, who just recently signed a lucrative contract extension with the <strong>Cleveland Browns<\/strong>.\u00a0 Though this move was necessary it did leave New England with less than stellar players on the defensive front.<\/p>\n<p>Though the Patriots defense has been steadily improving this season a lack of pass rush will be an advantage for Matt Ryan.\u00a0 The longer Matt Ryan is able to stand and become comfortable in the pocket the more likely he obtains a completion.\u00a0 As good as the Patriots secondary has been this season they will only be able to cover <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/J\/JoneJu02.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Julio Jones<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SanuMo00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mohamed Sanu<\/a><\/strong> for so long.\u00a0 The Patriots will try and get to Ryan using other means, such as disguised blitzes.\u00a0 Regardless, Ryan will have an opportunity to make plays in this game.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Win the Battle on Third Down<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>This will be easier said than done versus the Patriots.\u00a0 Tom Brady and the New England offense rank second in the league on third down with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.teamrankings.com\/nfl\/stat\/third-down-conversion-pct\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">completion percentage of 46.51<\/a>.\u00a0 Atlanta has the fire power to challenge the Patriots in this category ranking sixth with a percentage of 44.83.\u00a0 Achieving this will help to control the clock and time of possession. Keeping Tom Brady off the field is an obvious key to beating the Patriots. New England on average this season has possessed the ball 30 min of each game.\u00a0 As we know the Patriots also like to score before half time and on their first possession after the half. The Falcons defense has to prevent either of these scores from happening.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Remain Balanced on Offense<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The biggest thing Atlanta can do to help keep their offensive attack balanced is to not get behind early.\u00a0 If Atlanta has to play from behind it puts more pressure on their young and inexperienced defense.\u00a0 Falling behind will also put more pressure on Matt Ryan.\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/ColeTe01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tevin Coleman<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FreeDe00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Devonta Freeman<\/a><\/strong> need to remain a big part Atlanta\u2019s attack throughout the game.\u00a0 Keeping the Patriots defense honest and not allowing them to hone in on Matt Ryan will be crucial.
