According to the latest NFL rumors, Courtland Sutton expects to be 100% recovered for training camp. In other news, Saints rookie Alex Hoffman has retired from the NFL while Indianapolis Colts head coach Frank Reich continues to show unwavering support for Carson Wentz.

NFL Rumors: Courtland Sutton, Alex Hoffman, Carson Wentz

Courtland Sutton Expects to Be Ready For Training Camp

In 2019, Courtland Sutton established himself as one of the best young receivers in football. The former second-round pick exploded onto the scene, recording 72 receptions for 1,112 yards and six touchdowns while appearing in all 16 games. The Broncos added Jerry Jeudy into the mix the following offseason, hoping to give Denver one of the best 1-2 wide receiver punches in the entire league.

Sadly, that plan ended after just one half of action. Sutton tore his ACL in the first game of the season, ending his season while Jerry Jeudy took over as the de-facto WR1 in the offense. However, Sutton should be back to full strength, as he told the Broncos website that he is “hungry right now” and anticipates being fully recovered for training camp.

If Sutton can return to form, then Denver should have one of the best supporting casts in the NFL. The SMU product already proved himself to be a great young receiver, while fellow teammates Jerry Jeudy and Noah Fant showed plenty of promise throughout their young careers. Drew Lock and Teddy Bridgewater are currently set to be the quarterbacks for this offense, but the sky would be the limit if Denver can acquire somebody like Aaron Rodgers to captain the ship.

[pickup_prop id=”5401″]

New Orleans Saints Rookie Alex Hoffman Retires

Offensive lineman Alex Hoffman didn’t hear his name called during the 2021 NFL Draft. However, he did have a chance to earn a spot in the NFL, as the New Orleans Saints signed the Carroll College product as an undrafted free agent. However, the NFL dream will have to wait, as the undrafted rookie reportedly retired to pursue a career in medicine.

Saints rookie offensive lineman Alex Hoffman has retired, per source. He signed as a UDFA after the draft.

— Nick Underhill (@nick_underhill) May 17, 2021

Hoffman participated in rookie minicamp, but that was before he found out he had been accepted in the St. Louis University Medical School. With his NFL career already a longshot, Hoffman decided to pursue higher learning rather than life in professional football.

Frank Reich Praises Carson Wentz

If Carson Wentz doesn’t work out in Indianapolis, it won’t be due to a lack of confidence from the coaching staff. Wentz was at the center of one of the biggest trades of the offseason, as Indianapolis sent a third-round pick and a conditional first for the quarterback’s services. Wentz is coming off of a terrible season, but Reich believes this subpar campaign was nothing more than an outlier performance.

Saying that he cringes when hearing that Carson Wentz cannot be fixed, Reich made it very clear that he believes in the talent of his new quarterback. Reich is “very confident” Wentz can perform in the right environment while adding that he “love[s] sticking his neck out for people I believe in”. Reich has gone all-in on Wentz, and now it’s up to Wentz to show this faith is justified.

Of course, this isn’t the first time Wentz and Reich have worked together. The current Indianapolis head coach served as Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator during the first two seasons of Wentz’s career. After an up-and-down rookie season, Wentz went on to have what was easily the best season of his career in 2017. Even if that version of Wentz never shows up again, he proved that he can be a solid starter in 2018 and 2019.

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

NFL Rumors: Courtland Sutton should be healthy for training camp, Alex Hoffman retires, Frank Reich believes in Carson Wentz.

[15,12,28
7641,3588,7309,7421,7334,7659
post-113977","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-broncos","category-colts","category-saints","tag-broncos-featured","tag-courtland-sutton","tag-denver-broncos-roster","tag-indianapolis-colts-roster","tag-new-orleans-saints-roster","tag-saints-featured
["GET
