Harris, who only played one year of high school football, was initially a soccer player at Florida Gulf Coast University. Not long after starting at FGCU, Harris decided to play football, leading to his transfer to Western Kentucky as a preferred walk-on for the football team.

After one year at Western Kentucky, Harris found himself transferring again. This time, he wanted to move closer to his hometown of Palm Harbor, Florida, as he enrolled at UCF. He spent the 2017 season as a member of the scout team before playing in all 13 games in 2018. That season, he was primarily used as a special teams ace, as he would go onto earn a scholarship mid-season.

In 2019, Harris finally broke into his role as a receiver on offense. He registered 19 receptions for 448 yards and one touchdown that year for the Knights. His 23.6 yards-per-catch would’ve tied for the second-highest rate in the country, had he registered enough receptions to qualify. In 2020, Harris became a serious NFL prospect as he put up his best collegiate numbers in a shortened season. In 10 games, Harris registered 30 catches for 539 yards and eight touchdowns. He averaged nearly 18 yards-per-catch in 2020.

Strengths

Big frame

Naturally long and athletic

Ability to adjust to throws

Go-to guy on third down

Good speed

Willingness to block

Hardworking on every play

Weaknesses

Overall lack of experience in football

Limited run-blocking experience

Skinny for size

Inconsistent hands in traffic

Inconsistent speed off the line of scrimmage

NFL Comparison: A raw Mike Evans

Teams with need at the position: Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers

Projection: Fifth Round

Bottom Line on Jacob Harris

Jacob Harris brings great size and athletic ability, though remains raw as he struggles with consistency. He has all the natural intangibles to be a key contributor in the NFL but needs a chance to mold into a high-IQ football player before he can unlock his true potential. Ending up somewhere that he can learn from veteran receivers will be crucial for his early development.

The film room will wind up being his best friend no matter where he ends up. It is clear the young pass-catcher is still learning the ins and outs of what it takes to be a quality pro receiver. Harris could also benefit from adding bulk to his frame to take advantage of his stature. That being said, Harris’ size and speed alone should draw interest on day three of the draft.

More 2021 NFL Draft Profiles

Main Photo: Embed from Getty Images

Jacob Harris NFL Draft Overview Position: Wide receiver Height: 6’5” Weight: 219 lbs. College: UCF

[1647,33760
8201,2030
post-112148","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-nfl-draft","category-profiles","tag-jacob-harris","tag-nfl-draft-profiles
["GET
