Ole Miss Rebels tight end Kenny Yeboah comes in as a tough and athletic tight end from a fast-paced SEC offense. Yeboah originally enrolled in Temple University as a two-star wide receiver in 2016. After seeing some limited action in 2016, Yeboah redshirted. The following season, Yeboah experienced his first collegiate start. In nine games in 2017, Yeboah caught 14 receptions for 136 yards. The following season in 2028, Yeboah caught 13 receptions for 154 yards and a touchdown. In his final season at Temple in 2019, Yeboah played in 10 games as he caught 19 receptions for 233 yards and five touchdowns. In his four years at Temple, he caught 47 receptions for 538 yards and six touchdowns.

For his redshirt senior season, Yeboah transferred to the play for the Ole Miss Rebels under first-year head coach Lane Kiffin. With the potential of being a part of an explosive and dangerous offense, this was a chance for Yeboah to showcase his productivity on a bigger stage. Yeboah caught 27 receptions for 524 yards and six touchdowns in the eight games played for Ole Miss. He opted out of the final two games of the season to prepare for the 2021 NFL Draft. After a slow start to the 2021 Senior Bowl, Yeboah had accounted for a receiving touchdown in the game in front of NFL scouts, coaches, and general managers. Several attributes make Yeboah an average tight end prospect but there is also serious potential with him as a contributor in the NFL.

Strengths

Efficient route runner as a slot receiver, outside receiver, and standard tight format;

Able to locate the ball and make over-the-shoulder catches;

Blocks at the second-level well;

Adjusts significantly to a faster-paced offense;

Plays competitive with a lot of effort;

High football IQ and recognition.

Weaknesses

Lacks elite burst and speed;

Not a strong receiver in contention;

Lacks overall efficiency when blocking defensive linemen;

One-dimensional speed;

Has good but not great hands and lacks solid bodies catches;

Considered an average skill-setting tight end;

NFL Comparisons: Gerald Everett

Teams With Need At This Position: Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Football Team

Projection: Sixth Round

Bottom Line on Kenny Yeboah

With the NFL being pass-orientated and having multiple variations, different offensive skill weapons are needed. Kenny Yeboah is a tight end that can fit multiple offensive schemes and systems by lining up as a wideout, slot receiver, standard tight end, or fullback. He is an efficient receiver that doesn’t drop many passes. While he doesn’t have the speed that most fast-paced offenses want their tight ends to be, he can create many yards after the catch. He is a tough player to bring down due to his size and athleticism. His effort in the blocking game will make offensive coordinators happy although this is one of the biggest areas where he needs to improve.

There is a serious need for an athletic tight end that is versatile in the passing game. Yeboah’s potential and talents will come up in a lot of the team’s draft boards even though he isn’t explosive. His size and productivity as a route runner and a receiver will stand out for a few teams. According to CBS Sports, Yeboah ranks as the sixth-ranked tight end and 189th overall prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft. Other media outlets don’t have a higher opinion of him. ESPN has Yeboah ranked as the 10th best tight end and 209th overall prospect in the Draft. He will likely fall somewhere within the sixth or seventh round. He won’t be a big standout in camps but if given the chance to be a consistent receiver, he will showcase his potential of what he could do for that team for years to come.

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Kenny Yeboah 2021 NFL Draft Overview Position: Tight End Height: 6’4” Weight: 247 pounds School: University of Mississippi More 2021 NFL Draft Profiles Kenny Yeboah 2021 NFL Draft Profile Overview This tight end class in the 2021 NFL is dynamic and full of athletes.
