The most common question in Cincinnati Bengals<\/a> fandom right now is do they select Ja’Marr Chase<\/a> or Penei Sewell<\/a> with the fifth overall pick? As debate rages on, <\/span>a Cincinnati Bengals<\/a> legend and fan-favorite made his opinion known regarding the team\u2019s selection. Between the two stand-out prospects, Anthony Mu\u00f1oz<\/a> stays on-brand with his opinion…<\/span><\/p>\n

Cincinnati Bengals\u00a0Franchise Legend Anthony Mu\u00f1oz is on Team Sewell<\/h2>\n

The Hall of Fame left tackle wants the team to bring in their next elite blocker on the blindside. That should come as no surprise, considering Mu\u00f1oz\u2019s passion for the position. Furthermore, the team historically plays its best football when they\u2019re stacked in the trenches. During his press conference for the team\u2019s Ring of Honor<\/a> announcement event, Mu\u00f1oz gave Sewell his stamp of approval.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Even though he’s been a nemesis to my [USC] Trojans I would have to go with the guy from Eugene, Oregon with Penei. I’ve watched him several times. I think having signed Riley Reiff<\/a>, you got Jonah (Williams)<\/a>, you got (Trey) Hopkins<\/a> coming back, you got (Xavier) Su’a-Filo,<\/a> and now you add Penei to the mix,\u201d said Mu\u00f1oz<\/a>. \u201cI think if my name was Joe Burrow<\/a> I’d be pretty happy.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

With the first four picks trending towards quarterbacks, the Bengals are in a prime position to take advantage of the board. By the time they pick fifth overall (barring a trade back), they can snag a blue-chip talent to accompany Burrow. Certainly, in pleasing Mu\u00f1oz with the selection of Sewell, Cincinnati provides Burrow with a serious upgrade to his protection. Fresh off of allowing 48 sacks<\/a> last season, the team already added veteran Riley Reiff this off-season. More help protecting<\/a> Burrow, who is coming off of a major knee injury, seems like a wise move.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As Mu\u00f1oz is looking forward to the possibility of a Sewell selection, he is also celebrating his own achievement. Today, it was announced that Mu\u00f1oz would be one of four initial honorees in the team\u2019s Ring of Honor. He joins legend and franchise founder Paul Brown, plus two more season ticket holder-selected honorees in this year\u2019s class.<\/span><\/p>\n
