Originally holding the third-overall pick, the Dolphins made two trades that resulted in the sixth-overall pick and another first-round selection. This massive change to the draft order means that everyone’s old mock draft is completely irrelevant, and now the experts are working on figuring out what the Miami Dolphins will do with their new bounty of picks.

Miami Dolphins Mock Draft Roundup After the Trades

Steve Serby – New York Post

Ja’Marr Chase, WR
Kwity Paye, EDGE

Tua Tagovailoa struggled as a rookie, but the Miami Dolphins are not giving up on him after one underwhelming campaign. The Dolphins need to find out if Tua can be a franchise quarterback, and the best way to do that is by surrounding him with great talent. Ja’Marr Chase is widely considered the best receiver in this class and should provide a reliable outside threat for Tagovailoa. If the Alabama product can’t make it work with Chase, Will Fuller, and DeVante Parker, then the Dolphins can move on in 2022.

Kwity Paye is one of the biggest boom/bust prospects in the NFL Draft. The edge defender is a freak athlete with moments of pure dominance on his tape, but he struggles with fundamentals and still needs to refine his game. If Brian Flores and company can teach him the subtle nuances of the position, then he should be a great player in this league for years to come.

View Steve’s entire mock draft

[pickup_prop id=”5504″]

Nate Davis, USA Today

Ja’Marr Chase, WR
Trevon Moehrig-Woodard, S

We already talked about Chase in the section above, so we won’t waste any time here. Trevon Moehrig is something of an interesting selection, as Miami already has a pretty strong secondary. However, the safety position could be improved, and Moehrig’s ability to play all over the field would be a huge asset to this defense. Moehrig has a chance to be the next Patrick Chung in Flores’ defense, as he can stop the run, drop into zone, and even play the slot when needed.

View Nate’s entire mock draft

Dan Schmeizer, NFL Mocks

Ja’Marr Chase, WR
Kwity Paye, EDGE

View Dan’s entire mock draft

NFL Draft Room – Staff

Kyle Pitts, TE [NFL Draft Profile]
Gregory Rousseau, DL

With Chase going off the board with the fifth-overall pick, the Miami Dolphins end up with the best tight end prospect to hit the draft in quite some time. Pitts can truly do it all, as he is already an elite receiver and can beat safeties, cornerbacks, and linebackers with ease. His blocking could use some work, but he is young and should improve in that aspect with time.

Head coach Brian Flores loves versatile defenders, and Gregory Rousseau would be a great fit for this scheme. The defensive end is at his best outside but has the potential to move inside and get to the passer on clear passing downs. Miami needs a pass rush, and Rousseau would go a long way in making a quarterback’s life a lot harder.

View NFL Draft Room’s entire mock draft

Jon Ledyard, Pewter Report

Penei Sewell, OT
(Pick 18 not featured)

Ledyard’s mock exclusively covers the teams affected by Saturday’s trades, so the Miami Dolphins second selection is not featured in this mock draft. However, the selection of Sewell at 6 is more than enough to justify a spot on this list. In Ledyard’s mock, Pitts and Chase go off the board with the fourth and fifth picks, respectively. This still leaves the Dolphins with an elite offensive tackle prospect that has top-10 potential. Assuming the top three picks will be quarterbacks (a very safe assumption), Miami will still have an opportunity to grab one of the elite non-quarterback prospects in this class.

View Jon’s entire mock draft

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

The NFL Draft is still a month away, but that didn’t stop the Miami Dolphins from making some trades.
