With each of its four teams seemingly battling for the lowest record to win the division in 2020, it was apparent there would be some changes coming for these teams. Many of them have already begun with some splashes in the free agent market this off-season. However, one position should serve each of these four teams with some comfort: their running backs. Here\u2019s where the fantasy value of their star backfield players lie going into 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>NFC East Running Backs: 2021 NFL Fantasy Rankings<\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Antonio Gibson, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Washington Football Team<\/span><\/i><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the more intriguing second-year backs going into 2021 is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/G\/GibsAn00.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Antonio Gibson<\/a> of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/washington-football-team\/\" target=\"_self\">Washington Football Team<\/a>. Coming off a solid rookie year running the ball (170\/795\/11), Gibson ended as the RB12 in 2020. Even after missing a few games in December due to an injury, and giving up quite a few targets out of the backfield to PPR-hero <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/McKiJ.00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">J.D. McKissic<\/a>, Gibson\u2019s ceiling seems even higher this year, as the Football Team <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/blog\/washington\/post\/_\/id\/41186\/washington-football-team-nfl-free-agent-signings-2021-ryan-fitzpatrick-brings-experience\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">continues to make moves<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to improve their offense.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While the signing of speedy dual-threat wide receiver <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SamuCu00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Curtis Samuel<\/a> in free agency may seem like a negative impact on some of Gibson\u2019s touches, expect Washington to rely heavily on their second-year back in a Ron Rivera-led system looking to grind out some tough wins in 2021 that they couldn\u2019t put their final stamp on this past season. Gibson comes out as a <\/span><b>low-range RB1 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">again this year, possibly jumping a few spots in the rankings as he adds to his stats in the passing game from last year (36\/247\/0).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[pickup_prop id=&#8221;5440&#8243;]<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Highest-graded rookie RBs in 2020<\/p>\n<p>\ud83d\udca5 Jonathan Taylor &#8211; 83.9<br \/>\ud83d\udca5 Antonio Gibson &#8211; 80.9<br \/>\ud83d\udca5 Clyde Edwards-Helaire &#8211; 75.3<br \/>\ud83d\udca5 James Robinson &#8211; 72.9 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/2gyFGg2ww0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/2gyFGg2ww0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; PFF Fantasy &amp; Betting (@PFF_Fantasy) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PFF_Fantasy\/status\/1373076489734881282?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">March 20, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ezekiel Elliott, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dallas Cowboys<\/span><\/i><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After a disappointing year for the entire <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/cowboys\/\" target=\"_self\">Dallas Cowboys<\/a> organization after seeing their star quarterback exit with a season-ending injury just five games into the 2020 season, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/E\/ElliEz00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ezekiel Elliott<\/a> had quite a back and forth year himself. Normally one of the league\u2019s premier fantasy running backs, Elliott struggled mightily in the early onset of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PresDa01.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dak Prescott<\/a>\u2019s absence, along with dealing with his own lingering injury issues throughout the season. After accumulating six total touchdowns in the first five games of the season (when Prescott was on the field), he finished the season with only two additional scores. Elliott\u2019s fantasy value plummeted to RB11 on the year (salvaged slightly by yards and receptions thanks to a struggling Cowboys deep-threat game) after going in the top three-to-five in most drafts leading into the 2020 season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As long as <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/profootballtalk.nbcsports.com\/2021\/03\/10\/dak-prescott-says-hes-healthy-and-will-be-ready-when-it-matters\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prescott is healthy<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in 2021, Elliott\u2019s value should be back on the rise. But it is still to be seen how the Cowboys struggling offensive line will operate. And while Dallas has made a few moves on defense during free agency this off-season, a pass-heavy outlook with a lot of mouths to feed may result in less touches for Elliott if the Cowboys are constantly playing \u2018keep up\u2019 in games. His value should still increase from last year, but only to a <\/span><b>mid-range RB1<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> due to other competition in the league and Dallas\u2019s offensive play-calling.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Saquon Barkley, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">New York Giants<\/span><\/i><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After suffering a season-ending ACL injury just two weeks into the 2020 regular season, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BarkSa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Saquon Barkley<\/a>\u2019s third year with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/giants\/\" target=\"_self\">New York Giants<\/a> came to an abrupt end. After winning Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2018, he had a slight slump in production in 2019. But with a hopeful resurgence with the addition of one of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nfl\/lions\/news\/giants-sign-golladay#:~:text=According%20to%20NFL%20insider%20Josina,his%20guarantee%20is%20%2440%20million.\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">biggest names in free agency<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the wide receiver position last week, Barkley looks to jump right back into his workhorse role and help get the Giants offense get back on track.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While signal-caller <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/J\/JoneDa05.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Daniel Jones<\/a> has had his share of disappointments in his first two seasons, with the aerial weapons around him, and his star running back lined up behind him, expect New York to move the ball more efficiently in 2021. Even in years where they had nothing else going for them on offense, Barkley\u2019s raw talent shined through. He is an explosive playmaker and at many points over the past two seasons, the best weapon on the field (both on the ground and through the air). However, he has been quite underutilized thus far throughout his career. While the 2020 season consisted of him missing four games due to injuries, his usage was still quite low, especially considering Philadelphia\u2019s offensive struggles getting the ball down the field.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/phillysportsnetwork.com\/2021\/02\/04\/miles-sanders-21\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">new head coach<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, young and ever-changing wide receivers, and a different quarterback regime underway in Philadelphia, the Eagles offense could benefit extremely from the reliability of their young tailback.
