With Martin making $3.4 million per year, he will become the third highest paid punter in the\u00a0<strong>NFL<\/strong>, which will tie him with\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/L\/LeexAn20.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andy Lee<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0of the\u00a0<strong>Carolina Panthers<\/strong>.\u00a0<strong>Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0<\/strong>punter,\u00a0<strong>Dustin Colquit<\/strong>\u00a0remains the highest paid punter in the league, making $3.75 million per year.<\/p>\n<p>The Lions drafted Martin in the fifth-round of the\u00a0<strong>2013 NFL Draft\u00a0<\/strong>out of\u00a0<strong>Appalachian State<\/strong>. Martin has played in every game since being drafted by the Lions as a punter, kickoff specialist and a holder. In his four years with Detroit, he has punted 220 times with a career average of 46.4 yards per punt.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of hours after the news broke of Martin&#8217;s extension, Rapoport reported that the Lions and Theo Riddick had come to terms on an extension.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Lions?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#Lions<\/a> and RB Theo Riddick have agreed on a 3-year extension worth $12.75M, source said. Last season, Riddick was tied for first among NFL running backs with 80 receptions, while finishing second in receiving yards with 697. Both are Lions records among running backs. Riddick was less effective on the ground, however, rushing for only 143 yards on just 43 carries.
