Dunlap spent the past season with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/2021\/03\/03\/cincinnati-bengals-re-signed-clark-harris-their-long-snapper\/\" target=\"_self\">Cincinnati Bengals<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/nfl-teams2\/seahawks\/\" target=\"_self\">Seattle Seahawks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Seahawks?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#Seahawks<\/a> are re-signing pass-rusher Carlos Dunlap to a 2 year deal worth $16.6m with $8.5m guaranteed per <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DrewJRosenhaus?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@DrewJRosenhaus<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RapSheet\/status\/1375254600933122049?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">March 26, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Carlos Dunlap, Seattle Seahawks, Agree to Contract<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After splitting the 2020 season between Cincinnati and Seattle, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DunlCa99.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carlos Dunlap<\/a> lands his next opportunity. Dunlap spent the first ten-plus seasons of his career in Cincinnati. In October, the Bengals traded him to Seattle for offensive lineman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/F\/FinnB.01.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">B.J. Finney<\/a> and a seventh-round pick. The trade came after Dunlap publicly voiced frustration with his role in Cincinnati\u2019s defense. He played in only 23% of defensive snaps in his final game with the Bengals. Seattle\u2019s decision to release Dunlap ahead of free agency saved the team $14 million.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dunlap contributed 20 tackles and six sacks, appearing in 15 games during the 2020 season. Over his career, Dunlap has compiled 87.5 sacks, 20 forced fumbles, and 62 pass deflections. He was only one sack short of passing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/E\/EdwaEd20.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Eddie Edwards<\/a> for the Bengals\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/theathletic.com\/2182088\/2020\/11\/06\/cincinnati-bengals-eddie-edwards-carlos-dunlap-geno-atkins\/#:~:text=Eddie%20Edwards%20has%20owned%20the,it%2C%20Edwards%20recorded%2047.5%20sacks.\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">franchise sack record<\/a> (83.5). He also appeared in two Pro Bowls as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals, first in 2015, then again in 2016. While Dunlap won\u2019t pass Edwards in Cincinnati, he does rank 57th among the league\u2019s all-time sack leaders.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dunlap was selected in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of the University of Florida. Playing under Urban Meyer, Dunlap was a member of the 2009 BCS National Championship Team. He was named the Defensive MVP of Florida\u2019s National Championship effort. He also ranked on the All-SEC First Team in 2009. While at Florida, he contributed 26 tackles for loss and 19.5 sacks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In his spare time, Dunlap contributes to the community and is a restauranteur. He hosted the Carlos Dunlap Foundation Fun Day in 2018. The event provided school supplies, food, blood pressure checks, eye exams, in addition to bounce houses and water slides to 400 families. In 2020, he funded meals for 500 families through a donation to the Lowcountry Food Bank.
