Not only did Kamara\u2019s phenomenal six-touchdown performance in Week 16 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/news\/alvin-kamara-nfl-fantasy-drew-brees-baylen-brees#:~:text=%EF%BB%BFAlvin%20Kamara%EF%BB%BF&#039;s,Brees%20his%20fantasy%20football%20championship.\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">seal championship rights<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for many proud fantasy football managers, but with top picks <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/McCaCh01.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Christian McCaffrey<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BarkSa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Saquon Barkley<\/a> missing most of the 2021 season, Kamara\u2019s worth rang in even higher as one of the top backs in the league. However, assuming first-ballot Hall-of-Famer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BreeDr00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Drew Brees<\/a>\u2019 pending retirement becomes official, Kamara\u2019s fantasy value could look much different next season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Disclosure<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: There is no argument that Kamara is, and will continue to be, an explosive player on the ground and through the air in 2021. The question lies in can he keep up his Top-3 level fantasy performance going into next year if his quarterback, who relied on him an <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">incredible <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">amount in the passing game, hangs up his cleats this offseason.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Fantasy Football: Can You Trust Alvin Kamara In 2021?<\/h2>\n<h4><strong>Scenario 1: Taysom Hill Becomes the Starter<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HillTa00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Taysom Hill<\/a>. Head Coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PaytSe20.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Sean Payton<\/a>\u2019s \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/T\/TeboTi00.htm?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tim Tebow<\/a>\u2019. While (to many people\u2019s surprise) Hill took over as the starter when Brees missed time due to rib and lung injuries in the back-half of the season, he sported a solid 3-1 record and looked rather competent behind center for his first few starts at quarterback. His ability to move inside and outside the pocket allowed him to open up the passing game as he got comfortable. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, to the dismay of fantasy managers of Kamara, he wasn\u2019t one of the main players targeted. If this is the route Payton decides to go, people may be worried about <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canalstreetchronicles.com\/2020\/12\/4\/22151153\/how-taysom-hill-affects-alvin-kamara-value\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kamara\u2019s lack of possible targets<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, as Hill seemed to rely on bigger weapons who were quicker route options to get the ball to, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=ThomMi05,ThomMi02&amp;search=Michael+Thomas&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michael Thomas<\/a>. Not only that; Hill also vultured a number of goal-line scores and compiled numerous rushing yards throughout each game on designed runs as well as extended plays with his legs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This scenario may make fantasy players a bit weary and will knock him down to a low-end RB1\/high-end RB2 (Top 12-15 running back). Winston entered the Saints divisional round playoff game this past season to complete a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.theadvertiser.com\/story\/sports\/nfl\/saints\/2021\/01\/17\/new-orleans-saints-jameis-winston-touchdown-pass-nfc-divisional-playoffs-nfl-playoffs-2021-tampa-bay\/4200644001\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">long touchdown on a trick play<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> against his former team; other than that, he didn\u2019t see the field much in 2020. But from the good old days on the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/nfl\/category\/nfl-teams\/buccaneers\/\" target=\"_self\">Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a> squad, Winston loved to dart the ball down the field, whether it be to his team or his opponents\u2019. While the sample size is small under the Sean Payton-led offense with Winston under center, the former Heisman Trophy winner and first-round pick of the defending Super Bowl champions will look Kamara\u2019s way when things get tied up in coverage on his receivers.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kamara\u2019s rushing output will continue to flourish with Winston at the helm as well, which includes his goal-line presence. With this scenario, Kamara\u2019s fantasy value stays in the Top-10 (possibly even the Top-5 depending on his target share down the stretch of the season) &#8211; a mid to high-end RB1.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Average Depth of Throw ranking among 42 QBs with 500+ drop backs over the past 3 seasons:<\/p>\n<p>1. Drew Brees &#8211; 6.7<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Saints?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">#Saints<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Mike Clay (@MikeClayNFL) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MikeClayNFL\/status\/1364577323404718081?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">February 24, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Scenario 3: Trade For\/Sign\/Draft a Quarterback<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While Payton claims he has his <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/espn1420.com\/sean-payton-believes-their-future-quarterback-is-in-the-building\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">quarterback <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018in the building<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, this is definitely not a scenario to rule out. What makes free agency or trading for a signal-caller particularly tricky is the Saints <a href=\"https:\/\/overthecap.com\/salary-cap-space\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">limited cap space<\/a>. And while there are some deeper options in the upcoming draft, it would seem unlikely for the Saints to move this direction based on their current regime.
