According to rumors across the league, NFL quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr could receive revised contracts in the coming days. For Rodgers, the new deal would just be a restructure to clear up some cap space. Carr, however, is reportedly close to signing an extension with the Las Vegas Raiders.

NFL Rumors: Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr, Closing in on Revised Contracts

It’s interesting to see both quarterbacks receiving revised deals, as both were rumored to be on the market earlier in the offseason. After serving as the face of the franchise for years on end, the Green Bay Packers decided to look towards the future by selecting Jordan Love with their first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Rodgers responded with his best season in years, throwing for 4,299 yards, 48 touchdowns, and five interceptions en route to winning his third MVP award. Following the season-ending loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Rodgers said that he didn’t know what the future held for him. However, the Packers denied any interest in trading Rodgers and this latest move only confirms that Rodgers will be in Green Bay for the foreseeable future.

Much like Rodgers, Carr is coming off his best season in years after facing competition for the job. While the Raiders didn’t draft a young quarterback, they spent a decent amount on backup quarterback Marcus Mariota. Carr responded to this adversity with his best season since at least 2016. Starting in all 16 games, Carr completed 67.3% of his passes for 4,103 yards, 27 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. Despite the success, the Raiders reportedly will willing to part ways with the former second-round pick in exchange for two first-round picks. That market never developed, and Vegas seems content to move forward with Carr as the future of their franchise.

Carr’s extension only further adds fuel to the fire that Marcus Mariota is on his way out of town. The quarterback carries a $10.7 million cap hit with no guaranteed money. Some reports say that he could be acquired for as little as a Day 3 pick.

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

According to various rumors across the league, quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Derek Carr could receive revised deals in the coming days.

[25,17
275,231,44,848,88,246
post-104638","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-packers","category-raiders","tag-aaron-rodgers","tag-derek-carr","tag-green-bay-packers","tag-las-vegas-raiders","tag-marcus-mariota","tag-nfl-news
["GET
