With the team starving for receiver depth, Ward appeared in all 16 games, making 10 starts. While on the field, the receiver recorded 53 catches for 419 yards and six touchdowns on 79 targets from the duo of Carson Wentz and Jalen Hurts. Additionally, Ward hauled in Hurts’ first-ever touchdown pass.

Greg Ward began his NFL journey as an undrafted free agent following the 2017 NFL Draft. Signed the Philadelphia Eagles, Ward faced an uphill battle to earn a spot on what was a pretty solid wide receiver depth chart. While he couldn’t quite make the cut, the Houston product spent the majority of the season on the practice squad and was technically a part of that Super Bowl-winning roster. Even though he couldn’t make it in a game, the Eagles liked him enough to sign him to a futures contract at the conclusion of the season.

Unfortunately, Ward couldn’t make the 2018 roster and found himself out of football for the majority of the season. However, Ward didn’t give up on his dream and spent the spring of 2019 playing for the San Antonio Commanders in the AAF. While the league folded after just eight games, Ward managed to record an impressive 22 receptions for 214 yards.

Following the cancelation of the AAF season, Ward re-signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. He once again missed out on the Week 1 roster but found his way onto the field after DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery suffered various injuries. While he struggled to make an impact early on, he developed into one of Carson Wentz’ most reliable targets down the stretch, finishing with 28 receptions for 254 yards and a touchdown in seven games.

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

NFL veteran wide receiver Greg Ward is no longer a free agent.
