Starting and appearing in 14 games, Jones finished as Green Bay’s leading rusher while toting the ball 201 times for 1,104 yards and nine touchdowns. Additionally, Jones added an additional 47 receptions for 355 yards on two targets. Despite adding A.J. Dillon in the second round, Jones remained the unquestioned leader of Green Bay’s backfield throughout the season. However, Jones’ season ended on a low note, as the star running back fumbled in the NFC Championship Game and suffered a rib injury.

Jones initially entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Selected by the Green Bay Packers, Jones began his career as the third running back on the depth chart, behind Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery. However, Jones earned some playing time when both running backs suffered injuries. In total, the rookie recorded 448 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 81 rushing attempts to go along with nine receptions for 22 yards. He looked good with the ball in his hand and many expected a breakout season in 2018.

After serving a two-game suspension to start the season, Jones returned to the lineup and spent the year splitting time with Williams. However, despite the even snap count, Jones was clearly the more productive running back, picking up 728 carries and eight touchdowns on just 133 carries. He once again proved to be a threat with the ball in his hands, as Jones added on an additional 26 receptions for 206 yards and one touchdown.

Matt LaFleur replaced Mike McCarthy in 2019, and Jones earned a full-time workload with Green Bay’s new run-first identity. Overall, Jones recorded 1,084 rushing yards and a league-high 16 touchdowns on 236 carries while adding another 49 receptions for 474 yards and three touchdowns.

Main photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Longtime NFL veteran running back Aaron Jones signed a four-year, contract with the Green Bay Packers.
