Now, Carson Wentz, who was the second overall pick in this year’s draft, is set to take the field as the starter in Week one, a seemingly improbability a week ago. He’ll likely struggle at first, but hopefully he’ll find his groove and win some games. With this defense, if Wetnz plays at least average Philly can contend.

Philadelphia Eagles 2016 Win-Loss Projection

Week One vs Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns are bad, at least for now. The offense could be scary, especially when Josh Gordon returns from his four-Game suspension. However, Cleveland’s defense is just plain bad. They were awful last year and did nearly nothing to improve. This should be a win, and not very close either. Wentz’s first start is an easy one.

Week Two at Chicago Bears

This one will be a lot closer. The Chicago Bears defense isn’t nearly as bad as the Browns. The linebackers weren’t terrible last year, and they added Danny Trevathan, who will only add to the group. Tracy Porter is having a renaissance in Chicago, and Kyle Fuller certainly isn’t bad. This one will be much closer, but the Eagles still get a win.

Week Three vs Pittsburgh Steelers

Even without Le’Veon Bell and Martavis Bryant, the Pittsburgh Steelers offense should be explosive. Pittsburgh’s defense is much improved, and could be very good. This one won’t be as close, but it’ll be fun to see how Wentz does against a good defense. The Eagles lose their first game when the face the Steelers.

Week Four bye

Week Five at Detroit Lions

Many are claiming that the loss of Calvin Johnson hurts the Detroit Lions offense, but it could be quite the opposite. Now Matthew Stafford can spread out his targets more. The passing game will be much more balanced than it has been in past years, and with Jim Bob Cooter now in Detroit as the offensive coordinator, Stafford might be much improved. The defense is still good and DeAndre Levy will be back. Philly loses and this game won’t be too close either.

Week Six at Washington Redskins

This is the Eagles first inter-division game. Washington’s offense should still be good, unless last season was an anomaly for Kirk Cousins. Matt Jones can take the reins from Alfred Morris. Josh Doctson is a great addition and, when healthy, will be dangerous. The defense was revamped with free agent additions Josh Norman and David Bruton, and draft pick Su’a Cravens. This one will be competitive, and the win goes to the home team.

Week Seven vs Minnesota Vikings

This game will feature Wentz vs Bradford (probably). If Bradford can play semi-competently, the defense and Adrian Peterson will ride to the win.

Week Eight at Dallas Cowboys

If Tony Romo returns here, he’ll probably be rusty, which would give the Eagles the edge. The Eagles run defense is legit and they should be able to at least slow down Ezekiel Elliot. The Cowboys defense isn’t very good, and this game will hinge on Wentz’s performance. The Eagles likely win in Dallas.

Week Nine at New York Giants

The New York Giants are one of the most improved teams in the league, and they should win the NFC East. This will be close, as are all Giants/Eagles games. The Giants will get the win. This time.

Week Ten vs Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons are very up and down and it’s nearly impossible to guess how good they’ll be this season. The offense will be good, but the defense won’t. This will be a shootout, but Atlanta wins.

Week Eleven at Seattle Sehawks

It’s in Seattle. This won’t be close. Philly will lose this game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Week Twelve vs Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers will torch the Eagles. The only reason this game will be interesting is because it’s in Philly.

Week Thirteen at Cincinnati Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals defense is very good, as is the Eagles. This will be a defensive battle, one that the Bengals will likely win.

Week Fourteen vs Washington Redskins

This game is at home, and there is no city with more of a home field advantage than Philadelphia. The Eagles get a win here.

Week Fifteen at Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens offense could be impressive this season and the defense could be even better. This could be the closest game of the season. Joe Flacco will pull out a win for the Ravens though.

Week Sixteen vs New York Giants

The Eagles will win this one with the help of home field advantage. The Giants haven’t won at Lincoln Financial Field since 2008. Even with the G Men’s free agent additions that won’t change.

Week Seventeen vs Dallas Cowboys

There is nothing like an Eagles/Cowboys game in Philly. There is no team hated more by Philly sports fans than the Cowboys. That ferocity will fire up the players, and they’ll get the win and the sweep of Dallas.

Final Record: 5-11

Main PHoto

Embed from Getty Images

The 2016 Philadelphia Eagles just became one of the more interesting teams to watch this season, after a blockbuster trade which sent starting quarterback Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings, for a 2017 first-round pick and a conditional pick.
