The Green Bay Packers<\/a> have reunited with veteran cornerback Tramon Williams<\/a> after adding him to the practice squad as they attempt to return to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2011. With a win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/a> on Sunday they will do just that. Williams initially joined the Houston Texans<\/a> as an undrafted free agent following the 2006 NFL Draft, having played three years with the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs but was released and joined the Packers practice squad in November of the same year. The 37 year old Williams worked out with the Packers on Wednesday and was signed to the team’s practice on Thursday as he tries to capture his second ring as a Packer.<\/p>\n

As a member of the 2010-11 Packers team, Williams was critical to the Packers winning their fourth Lombardi trophy after registering a game-saving interception with just 39 seconds left on the clock in the Wild Card game against the Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>. He followed that up with another two picks a week later, including a pick-six, to help the Packers cruise past the Atlanta Falcons<\/a>. Williams was released by the Packers in 2015 and has had spells with the Cleveland Browns<\/a>, Arizona Cardinals<\/a>, and most recently the Baltimore Ravens<\/a>, in addition to a second stint with the Packers in 2018 and 2019<\/p>\n

During his second stint, he moved to safety but will not be asked to fill that role with the team now since Darnell Savage<\/a> and Adrian Amos<\/a> have formed a solid partnership. Williams also offers the Packers some versatility as a return specialist, having returned 74 punts during his career despite not being known for his speed.<\/p>\n

The Baltimore Ravens waived Williams on January 18th of this year, clearing the way for a return to the team with which he has already had two stints. Williams played seven games this season with the Ravens and was on the field for 191 snaps in that time.<\/p>\n
