In a stunning piece of NFL news, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff will suit up for the NFC Wild Card game, but will not start. Jared Goff, of course, injured his thumb in Week 16 and underwent surgery shortly thereafter. In his place, the Rams will send out John Wolford.

The past three weeks have been nothing but trouble for the Los Angeles Rams. After a blowout win over the New England Patriots, Los Angeles appeared to have an easy path to the postseason. However, the New York Jets pulled off an upset win in Week 15, and Goff’s injury occurred in Week 16. The Rams won in Week 17 against the Arizona Cardinals, but that was largely due to Kyler Murray suffering an injury of his own. However, said win will obviously be hard to come by following the injury news.

With Goff sidelined, Los Angeles will turn John Wolford. Wolford, a former AAF player, was one of the better quarterbacks in the spring football league. While he was overshadowed by Garrett Gilbert, Wolford was the second-best quarterback and finished as the unofficial runner-up for league MVP honors. In total, the former San Diego Fleet quarterback completed 63.4% of his passes for 1,616 yards, 14 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.

After a relatively disappointing 2019, Jared Goff bounced back with a solid season. While it ended a little prematurely, the quarterback finished his season near the middle of the pack in just about every quarterback efficiency stat. Prior to Week 16’s thumb injury, Goff completed 68% of his passes for 3,718 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions. Additionally, he had a 92.4 passer rating and a 59.0 QBR
