Viking fans (and fantasy managers) were in for a massive scare Sunday afternoon. Superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson went down with an injury. Jefferson limped off the field and into the locker room in the third quarter against the San Francisco 49ers. It was labeled as a quad injury, and he did not return to the game. Here is the latest on the superstar playmaker.

Justin Jefferson Injury Update

Justin Jefferson suffered a quad injury on Sunday against the 49ers. The receiver was unable to return to the game, which caused more concern that the injury was serious. However, the opposite has been reported. Thankfully, he is expected to be ok as he participated in Wednesday’s walk through practice. He is on track to play on Sunday against a massive game against the Houston Texans. At least for now, it appears Viking fans and his fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief.

Potential Outlook

Minnesota’s superstar wideout is arguably the best receiver in the league. The superstar has recorded at least 1,000 yards in all of his first four seasons, including seasons where he missed multiple games. Assuming Jefferson is healthy and remains healthy for the season, he is well on his way to clear the 1,000 mark once again. Jefferson is on pace for 1,632 yards for the season, which would be the second most in his career.

Even with a new quarterback in Sam Darnold, Jefferson has not missed a beat. Against San Francisco, Darnold and Jefferson connected for a 97-yard touchdown. Former Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins had built a strong connection with Jefferson over four seasons together. Although changing quarterbacks is always an adjustment for teams, especially receivers, it has not seemed to affect Jefferson in the slightest. The Vikings offense has looked solid through two weeks, and they are surely glad to hear their star receiver will likely suit up on Sunday.
