Well, that was fun! Week 1 is in the books and it was so nice to have football back. Each week this column will analyze a player at each position rostered in 50 percent of Yahoo leagues or less. This group of players, highlighted by Mike Williams and Logan Thomas, is basically a dream stream team. For reference, the threshold used for Wins and Losses in this article will be if the quarterbacks can score 15 plus points, such as Teddy Bridgewater getting involved in a possible shootout with the Buccaneers, and if the rest can score 10 plus PPR points. Here is the stream team for Week 2.

Week 2 Stream Team
Quarterback – Teddy Bridgewater (CAR – 22%) @ TB
It’s only one week, but the Bucs defense looks like they are going to be strong against the run again this year and more beatable through the air. That bodes well this week for Teddy Bridgewater. Drew Brees didn’t have a great game last week but I expect the Panthers to be in a different situation than the Saints were. Carolina is the biggest underdog on the schedule this week. I’m expecting them to fall behind early and have to throw the ball often leading to a good fantasy day for Teddy and company.
Honorable Mentions – Mitchell Trubisky (CHI – 6%) v NYG, Gardner Minshew (JAX – 29%) @ TEN
Running Back – Jerick McKinnon (SF – 16%) @ NYJ
It’s about damn time “Jet” finally suited up for San Francisco! After spending his first four seasons with Minnesota and showing flashes of greatness at times, especially in the passing game, McKinnon signed a deal with the 49ers heading into the 2018 season. I was extremely excited as a fan of his game to get to run in a Shanahan system. McKinnon had insane athletic measurables and was going to finally show it. Alas, he tore his ACL and hasn’t played since. In his first game as a 49er last week, he was able to rack up 44 total yards and a touchdown and was especially involved in the passing game. Hopefully, that usage can continue this week against the lowly Jets.

Honorable Mentions – Chris Thompson (JAX – 29%) v IND, Frank Gore (NYJ – 9%) v SF
Wide Receiver – Mike Williams (LAC – 46%) v KC
Williams has become somewhat of a yearly fantasy tease. In 2018 he posted double-digit touchdowns despite a low target and reception total. In 2019 he saw a nice boost in targets but only a small boost in receptions. He was also able to go over the 1,000-yard mark but only finished with two touchdowns. His arrow was pointing down heading into 2020 as he was banged up and with Philip Rivers out of town. It only makes sense that he drew nine targets, converting them into four catches for 69 yards last week. In a matchup with the Chiefs, the Chargers should fall behind quickly and need to throw a lot which should bode well for another good week from Williams.

Honorable Mentions – Allen Lazard (GB – 46%) v DET, Parris Campbell (IND – 36%) v MIN
Tight End – Logan Thomas (WAS – 13%) @ ARI
What a story for Logan Thomas. He played quarterback in college for Virginia Tech and milled around as a backup quarterback in the NFL for a few years before switching positions to tight end. It made sense as he has great size (6’6” / 250 lbs.) and athleticism. Playing for Washington isn’t usually a good thing but after stud sophomore, Terry McLaurin, there isn’t a pass catcher standing in his way for targets. In Week 1, he was targeted eight times and hauled in four of them for 37 yards and a touchdown. He’ll look to build on his promising debut in a nice matchup with Arizona this week.
