If you are reading this, you most likely made the fantasy football playoffs. You also probably made it in spite of the quarterback you either drafted or traded for, Carson Wentz. On average, Wentz was the seventh quarterback drafted in fantasy leagues, ahead of quarterbacks such as Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray and Lamar Jackson. You drafted Wentz to be a stud in your lineup every single week. Instead, Wentz is QB14 on the season and is averaging right around 16 points per contest. While those numbers won’t kill a fantasy team, they are not what one would expect for a quarterback picked before Dak Prescott (QB2) and Josh Allen (QB4). However, if you made it this far with Wentz either in your lineup or on your bench, there is reason to believe he will have a great end to 2019 and deliver on his draft pedigree.
Trust Carson Wentz in the Fantasy Playoffs
His Weapons Are (Almost) Healthy
Wentz has been without his top receiving options for most of 2019. Alshon Jeffrey has missed a month of the season due to injury, and Nelson Agholor and Jordan Howard have both been in and out of the lineup. He lost Darren Sproles for the year as well. It’s hard to produce when you are throwing to the likes of Jordan Matthews and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside. While Zach Ertz has played in every game this season, having a carousel of healthy receivers weekly is hard to adjust to. Now, though, it looks like Wentz should have all of his receiving options available for the last month of the season. Jeffrey returned to the lineup this week and it immediately made a difference, as he went for 167 yards and a touchdown off of 16 targets. With his top wideout healthy and producing, Wentz should be able to take advantage. Speaking of taking advantage…
The Eagles’ Remaining Schedule Is EASY
Philadelphia has the easiest remaining schedule for fantasy quarterbacks. They match up against the New York Giants, the Washington Redskins, then the Dallas Cowboys at home. If you play until Week 17, they play the Giants in New York. The Giants and the Redskins are each in the bottom third of the league against the pass. The Cowboys, meanwhile, just allowed Josh Allen to complete 80 percent of his passes. All of these games are also must win games for the Eagles, so Wentz will have to be at his best in order to get his team into the playoffs.
You Don’t Have Better Options
Unless you were smart enough to draft a Lamar Jackson or Dak Prescott in the last round or pick them up off waivers, the options out there to pick up are few and far between. The possible streamers include Ryan Tannehill, Sam Darnold and Jacoby Brissett. I don’t know about you, but I do not want to trust my season on Tannehill. Trust Wentz, you will not regret it.
