The fantasy football season is officially in its final stretch. With the trade deadline passed in the majority of leagues, the only way to improve your roster is through smart waiver claims. No matter how good your roster is, you’ll need to make at least one or two moves on the waiver wire to win your championship. With that in mind, running backs Gus Edwards and Josh Adams are some smart waiver wire adds for the upcoming slate of games.

Fantasy Football: Gus Edwards, Josh Adams Highlight Week 12 Running Back Waiver Claims
Gus Edwards
The Baltimore Ravens hate Alex Collins. All the stars aligned for Collins to be the lead back against an incredibly easy schedule. Instead, Gus Edwards took over the RB1 position and dominated as the top running back. Edwards, who entered the game with 64 rushing yards on the season, recorded 115 rushing yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. He’s probably going to be the main guy moving forward and is a must-own fantasy asset.
Edwards faces perhaps the best schedule of any running back for the rest of the season. From Week 12 until Week 16, Edwards faces the Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Kansas City Chiefs. Each defense is subpar, and the Ravens don’t have a reliable quarterback right now. Lamar Jackson showed promise, but he’s not quite developed as a passer, and Joe Flacco is underwhelming and injured. Baltimore will need to use their running game to get to the playoffs, and the Ravens face a stretch of bad defenses. Use whatever waiver priority you have to get Gus Edwards on your team.
Josh Adams
It’s official, the Philadelphia Eagles finally have a clear frontrunner in their backfield. Ever since Jay Ajayi went down back in October the Eagles have struggled to find a consistent player in the running game. Corey Clement and Wendell Smallwood couldn’t answer the call, so the Eagles gave Josh Adams a shot. That decision has paid dividends, as Adams has been everything Philadelphia could have hoped for.
Adams was the lone bright spot in an otherwise miserable night for the Eagles. The rookie running back finished his night with seven carries for 56 yards and a touchdown. While this was solid production, the Eagles had to abandon their running game early after falling behind to the New Orleans Saints high-octane offense.
Adams should have an even better game next week against a subpar New York Giants unit. New York isn’t capable of matching the Saints production, so Philadelphia won’t abandon their run game in Week 12. Only claimed in 7.5% of leagues, Adams would be a smart claim if you need running back help.
Jalen Richard
It’s not even hyperbole to say that Jalen Richard is the best receiver left on the Oakland Raiders offense. Amari Cooper is gone, Jordy Nelson and Martavis Bryant are hurt, and now Brandon LaFell suffered an Achilles injury. Outside of tight end Jared Cook, there’s nobody left to catch passes from Derek Carr. Based on pure volume alone, Jalen Richard should put up good fantasy numbers.
Additionally, the Raiders are starting to let Richard run the ball more. In Sunday’s game against the Arizona Cardinals, Richard carried the ball a team-high 11 times for a team-leading 61 yards. He not the type of guy who can carry you to a fantasy championship, but Richard is more than capable of starting in the flex. Owned in just 7.4% of leagues, Richard should give decent production the rest of the way, especially in a PPR league.
