Marshawn Lynch is an Oakland Raider. Beast Mode is expected to do big things with the Silver and Black. Oakland is primed to have a big season. Lynch can help and determine how far the team actually gets. Adding a great running back with Lynch’s skillset will affect the Raiders in many ways. With teams already fearing the up-and-coming Raiders, the addition of Lynch should make them even more scared.
How The Addition of Marshawn Lynch Helps The Oakland Raiders
Pressure Off Defense
It is pretty much common knowledge that a strong running game helps out the defense. Running the ball is a great way to slow the game down and keep the defense on the sideline. The Raiders defense was far below average in most categories last season. Also, the Raiders have a very young defense with a lot of new talent. Marshawn Lynch playing well will help ease the growing pains phase that the defense will have to go through.
Oakland had an explosive offense last season, but at times the running game was nothing special. A strong running game can be a defense’s best friend. Marshawn Lynch can take some pressure off of the defense just by running the ball.
Pressure Off Carr
Derek Carr had to bail the Raiders out a lot last season with his arm. Week after week, Carr was making crazy throws and leading his team to victories. It was fun at the time, but that can only get a team so far. Carr cant be expected to make exceptional plays every single week just to help the Raiders win a game. With a stronger running game, some pressure can be taken off the team’s franchise quarterback. Instead of Carr having to drop back trying to score a last second touchdown, he can hand the ball off to Lynch and let him do what he does best. Plus, the addition of Lynch might keep the Raiders from even being in the position from having to win in a comeback.
Balance The Offense
It might seem pretty obvious, but it is a big deal. As has been mentioned above, Lynch will take some pressure off of Derek Carr himself. However, this means he will in turn take pressure off of the Raiders passing attack. Lynch balances an explosive offense. Oakland now has a dangerous air attack, and they’ll now be able to ground and pound. An offense that can do it all will really come into use when the playoffs start. In some instances the Raiders can lean on Carr and the passing game. In other situations, Lynch behind Oakland’s incredible o-line will be allowed to put in work on the ground.
Oakland had a couple of stud rookies last year at running back with DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard. But with Marshawn Lynch, this offense has ascended into serious elite level. Now with a running game that matches the passing game, the Raiders can pick apart the opponents whichever way they seem fit.
