The 22-year-old will become China\u2019s first ever full-time F1 driver.<\/h2>\n<h3>Antonio Giovinazzi\u2019s Exit<\/h3>\n<p>The Italian will be joining Formula E as a driver for Dragon Penske. He claimed on his own Twitter that he will not give up, and Formula One has not seen the last of him. \u00a0Zhou had been tipped for a while to replace Giovinazzi and become Valtteri Bottas\u2019 teammate, so the news isn\u2019t a shock. Even more so if the rumours are true. Many reports claim that Zhou will bring <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetf1.com\/news\/guanyu-zhou-sponsors-30m-alfa-romeo\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">30 million euros<\/a> in sponsorship, effectively paying his way into the sport.<\/p>\n<p>Giovinazzi mentioned <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Anto_Giovinazzi\/status\/1460536556574453761\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">money in his tweet,<\/a> is that a subtle dig at the Chinese driver and Alfa Romeo? He said that F1 <em>\u2018knows how to be ruthless, when money dictates the rules.\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It wouldn\u2019t be a surprise if that is the case, with money being vital in such a rich sport. It\u2019s a shame if that is the reason though, especially given Giovinazzi\u2019s improvements this season.<\/p>\n<h3>Alfa Romeo\u2019s Reaction<\/h3>\n<p>https:\/\/twitter.com\/alfaromeoracing\/status\/1460537891160006657?s=20<\/p>\n<h3>Guanyu Zhou\u2019s Credentials<\/h3>\n<p>He is second place in the F2 standings as things stand. Zhou has been linked with the move to F1 heavily in recent months. He came second in an Italian F4 championship. Since then in Euro F3 and F2 he has accumulated a fair few wins.<\/p>\n<p>In 61 F2 race starts, the Chinese driver has four wins and 18 podiums to his name. Along the way, Zhou has picked up three pole positions.<\/p>\n<p>He will join Valtteri Bottas at the team after the Finn&#8217;s Mercedes exit where he will be replaced by <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2021\/09\/08\/george-russell-joins-mercedes-from-2022\/\" target=\"_self\">George Russell<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Does Guanyu Zhou deserve the seat, or is it a financial decision?
