{"id":8036,"date":"2020-04-13T12:37:50","date_gmt":"2020-04-13T16:37:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonmotorsport.com\/?p=8036"},"modified":"2020-04-13T12:50:01","modified_gmt":"2020-04-13T16:50:01","slug":"kyle-larson-issues-video-apology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2020\/04\/13\/kyle-larson-issues-video-apology\/","title":{"rendered":"Kyle Larson issues video apology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NASCAR Star <strong>Kyle Larson<\/strong> has had an eventful past 12 hours after <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonmotorsport.com\/2020\/04\/13\/kyle-larson-says-a-racial-slur-in-an-iracing-stream\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>saying a racial slur during an iRacing event<\/strong><\/a> late on Sunday night.<\/p>\n<p>The 27-year old has since been suspended by both NASCAR as well as Chip Ganassi Racing, for an indefinite amount of time.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Kyle Larson issues video apology<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Larson issued a video apologizing for the incident on his Twitter account on Monday morning. Last night, I made a mistake and said the word that should never, ever, be said. There&#8217;s no excuse for that. I wasn&#8217;t raised that way. It&#8217;s just an awful thing to say. I feel very sorry for my family, my friends, my partners, the NASCAR community, and especially the African American community. I understand the damage is probably un-reparable, and I own up to that. But, I just want to let you all know how sorry I am and I hope everybody is staying safe during these crazy times. Thank you.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>There is no word currently on how long Larson will be suspended from his ride or if this will effect his eligibility in future iRacing events.<\/p>\n<p>The Elk Grove, California native has been very involved in both NASCAR and World of Outlaws events on the platform during the last few weeks.<\/p>\n<p>He even won one of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonmotorsport.com\/2020\/04\/07\/kyle-larson-bell-iracing\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">NBCSN Short Track Series races\u00a0<\/a>at Lucas Oil Raceway less than a week ago.<\/p>\n<p>During his career, Larson has captured six NASCAR Cup Series victories along with eight NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series feature wins.
