{"id":7611,"date":"2020-02-13T13:50:08","date_gmt":"2020-02-13T18:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonmotorsport.com\/?p=7611"},"modified":"2020-02-13T13:50:08","modified_gmt":"2020-02-13T18:50:08","slug":"woo-lm-dennis-erb-jr-disqualified-brandon-sheppard-wins-volusia-night-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2020\/02\/13\/woo-lm-dennis-erb-jr-disqualified-brandon-sheppard-wins-volusia-night-1\/","title":{"rendered":"WoO LM: Dennis Erb Jr. disqualified, Brandon Sheppard wins Volusia Night 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first night of racing at Volusia Speedway Park for the World of Outlaws Late Models was already eventful, but a couple hours after the race, it got crazier.<\/p>\n<p>The original winner of the race in\u00a0<strong>Dennis Erb Jr.\u00a0<\/strong>failed to report to post-race inspection, deeming him ineligible to claim the victory.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, second-place finisher\u00a0<strong>Brandon Sheppard\u00a0<\/strong>was given the win.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>WoO LM: Dennis Erb Jr. disqualified, Brandon Sheppard wins Volusia Night 1<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The statement from World of Outlaws Late Model Series Director\u00a0<strong>Casey Shuman\u00a0<\/strong>was short and sweet:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt was announced at the drivers meeting there would be post-race inspection,\u201d Shuman said in a release. \u201cUnfortunately, Dennis did not meet that requirement and was penalized.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Erb Jr., however, according to people close to the situation, didn&#8217;t know where to go for post-race inspection.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The good guy loses cause of a miscommunication on where to go on post race tech. Tech him at his pit, illegal there then ok. But this is BS. Missing tech inspection, no matter the circumstances, always results in a disqualification.<\/p>\n<p>The dismay comes from the lack of communication.<\/p>\n<p>Erb Jr. said that he was waiting after the victory lane ceremony to figure out where to go for postrace inspection.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m the one that was standing on the front straight-away, with nobody around me, waiting to see what to do,&#8221; Erb Jr. told DirtonDirt. &#8220;Like I said, I just drove up here.
