The air temperature was 28 degrees C, and the track temperature was 41 degrees C. The Pirelli tire choice at this race is the white-striped medium tire, yellow-striped soft tire, and the purple-striped ultrasoft\u00a0tire.<\/p>\n<h2>The main takeaways from this session were:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Less than three-tenths separated the first four cars.<\/li>\n<li>Most of the teams, including the top squads, wore the soft tire and the ultrasoft. Also,\u00a0the medium tire made its appearance in the early stages of the session.<\/li>\n<li>Daniel Ricciardo will suffer a grid penalty for Sunday&#8217;s race for utilizing new Power Unit elements and will start at the back of the grid.<\/li>\n<li>Many drivers elected to test the long run pace, as preparation for race\u00a0day.<\/li>\n<li><strong>McLaren<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Stoffel Vandoorne<\/strong> missed most of the session and finished last. <strong>Fernando Alonso<\/strong> finished twelveth.<\/li>\n<li>Canadian <strong>Nicholas Latifi<\/strong> drove <strong>Esteban Ocon<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>Force India<\/strong>, while Italian <strong>Antonio Giovinazzi<\/strong> took <strong>Marcus Ericsson<\/strong>&#8216;s seat at <strong>Sauber<\/strong> in the morning session.<\/li>\n<li>The top three teams, <strong>Ferrari<\/strong>, <strong>Mercedes<\/strong>, and Red Bull, worked on its race simulations in the last part of the practice session.<\/li>\n<li>Ricciardo led the way in a practice session for the third time this season.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The Last Word<\/h2>\n<p>Mercedes, Ferrari, and Red Bull are pretty close in the early stages of the weekend.
