With consecutive victories over successive weekends, Kiwi driver Scott Dixon<\/strong> has not only taken the lead of the 2018 Verizon indyCar Series<\/strong>, but also another step up the ladder of ‘all time IndyCar Series winners’ list.<\/p>\n

Scott Dixon takes a step-up ladder of ‘all time IndyCar Series winners’<\/h1>\n

Dixon broke a tie he had with Michael Andretti<\/strong>, to stand alone for third-most wins in IndyCar history. His 43rd career victory at Texas Motor Speedway<\/strong> see’s him now sit behind only A.J. Foyt’s<\/strong> 67, and second best to Mario Andretti’s<\/strong> 52 race wins.<\/p>\n

“We won two races and led a bunch of laps. That’s a positive,”<\/em> Dixon told media after his win at the weekend. This was the Chip Ganassi Racing<\/strong> driver’s third win at Texas, but an important win overall in his 16th season of IndyCar racing (17th season with Ganassi).<\/p>\n

“It means a lot, but more for the team, we celebrate together, we win and lose together, and 42 of those wins have been with this great team.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Scott Dixon Moves Up the Ladder<\/h2>\n

The respected New Zealand-born driver had little success prior to the Indianapolis weekend, and while a win at Detriot last week had seen him taste champagne for the only first time in 2018, the driver is now super-confident. A huge jump up the ladder (both overall, and in 2018 series standings) shows that the competition is still close.<\/p>\n

In winning the\u00a0DXC Technology 600<\/strong>, Scott Dixon strode up the standings.\u00a0Will Power<\/strong> and Ed Carpenter<\/strong>, the top two finishers in the Indianapolis 500<\/strong><\/a>, were both called for avoidable contact, Dixon led the most laps and could well have lapped the field – if not for safety car events.<\/p>\n

“I love winning in Texas, man, this place is awesome,”<\/em> he said in an interview with the host broadcaster.\u00a0“The car was just stung, like whatever we did, the car was just nailed. It was a bit <\/em>loose at times, but I can’t thank the team enough, the pit stops were fantastic.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The improved performances\u00a0saw him jump from second on the standings, five points behind Will Power,\u00a0to now hold a 23-point championship lead over all chasers.<\/p>\n
