The 7-time Champion was enjoying a reasonable weekend until that mistake, showing comparable pace to teammate Charles Leclerc.<\/p>\n
Speaking of Leclerc, the Monegasque fell victim to an overly enthusiastic Kimi Antonelli<\/a> – whose misjudgement ended the Ferrari driver’s race.<\/p>\n Despite leaving the fifteenth round of 2025 empty-handed, Fred Vasseur argues there were still positives.<\/p>\n Immediately after the summer break, Ferrari once again found themselves at odds with the SF-25.<\/p>\n On race day, the car designed in Maranello actually showed reasonable performance.<\/p>\n Hamilton was being held up until his crash, whilst Leclerc was within touching distance of the podium until his Antonelli clash.<\/p>\n Prior to the Grand Prix, however, Ferrari were unable to optimise their package.<\/p>\n The headaches began in Friday Practice, when both drivers were almost a second behind the McLaren’s<\/a>.<\/p>\n Leclerc described his FP1 and FP2 sessions as the worst of the season<\/a> – highlighting the team’s poor start.<\/p>\n Saturday qualifying was slightly better, with Ferrari avoiding any early eliminations in Q1 or Q2.<\/p>\n In this sense, team principal Fred Vasseur<\/a> believes there are positives the team can take from Zandvoort.<\/p>\n Looking beyond the result, Vasseur argues that Ferrari recovered well after Friday Practice:<\/p>\n “Overall, this has been a tough weekend.<\/em><\/p>\n “We had a very poor Friday, after which the entire team and the drivers did a good job to recover so that we had decent pace today…<\/em><\/p>\n “We knew Zandvoort wouldn\u2019t suit us, and the positive we can take away is that we had very strong pace today.<\/em><\/p>\n “But of course it\u2019s not good to head home with zero points.<\/em><\/p>\n “As for next week in Monza, we expect to be in better shape and it will be important to have a much better Friday than we did here.”<\/em><\/p>\n Vasseur is correct to identify that Ferrari were competitive on race day, especially given Zandvoort’s characteristics.<\/p>\n Other circuits should be more suited to the SF-25, which will surely be in contention for podium finishes in the coming rounds.<\/p>\n At the same time, Ferrari must be weary of their vulnerabilities.<\/p>\n Red Bull managed to secure their first double-points finish since Imola, closing the gap to P2 in the standings.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/12\/2025\/09\/3e3f8269-f5b8-4d92-ab99-a4baae1c0e42-1024x683.jpg\")
