It\u2019s been a weekend of action over in Iowa for rounds 11 and 12 of the IndyCar championship for the Farm To Finish<\/span>\u00a0275 at<\/span> Io<\/span>wa Speedway.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Chip Ganassi Racing Finishes 1-2 as Alex Palou Wins Race 2 at Iowa Speedway\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Alex Palou<\/a> has now added a second win on an oval to his list of accomplishments. His first oval win came during this year\u2019s Indy 500.<\/a> Palou started from pole position but lost the lead for a few laps before regaining it. He battled on track against David Malukas and teammate Scott Dixon, but luckily held on to win the race in the end. Today marks Alex Palou\u2019s seventh win of the 2025 season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dixon was close to catching Palou during the late stages of the race but had to settle for P2 this time around. Dixon has yet to get a win in Iowa, but this is his 14th time finishing in the top 5 at this track.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Finally, to round out the podium, it was Marcus Armstrong who took that third-place trophy home. Meyer Shank Racing will have lots to celebrate tonight. After a bit of tough luck at the beginning of the season, Armstrong\u2019s been having strong performances, and we\u2019re finally seeing all his efforts pay off.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Problems for Team Penske<\/b><\/h3>\n

Team Penske had a strong finish yesterday, coming in places 2-4. Today, it was a different story for the team.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On lap 2, Devlin DeFrancesco made contact with Scott McLaughlin. The accident gave Mclaughlin severe damage to the left rear of his car and sent him into the grass.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Later on in the race, Will Power experienced a suspected engine failure, which forced him to retire from the race.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Team Penske has had 10 DNFs this season, making it the most DNFs for the team since 2000.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Other Notable Moments\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n

Arrow McLaren was down a driver today. During yesterday\u2019s race, Nolan Siegel sustained a mild concussion in a crash<\/a> and wasn\u2019t cleared by medical staff to drive this afternoon. According to Team Principal Tony Kanaan,<\/a> Siegel will be assessed ahead of next week\u2019s race. A replacement driver will also be travelling with the team in case they\u2019re needed to step in.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On lap 127, Marcus Ericsson went into the wall. It was reported that his right front tire went flat, which caused him to lose control. The incident was similar to Kyle Kirkwood\u2019s incident during yesterday\u2019s race.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Colton Herta made contact with the wall with 19 laps left of the race, causing him to DNF and finish the race in 20th.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A late caution meant that it was truly going to be a push to the finish, and it could\u2019ve been anyone\u2019s race during those last few laps. With everyone making their final pit stops, the top three under caution were Palou, Armstrong, and Dixon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

IndyCar heads north of the border next weekend for its fourth race of the month, where the drivers will take on the Streets of Toronto.<\/a> Race day is July 20th and starts at noon EST.<\/span><\/p>\n
