Motorsport fans are in for an exciting weekend across June 14 and 15 as the 2025 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place. A host of familiar names from F1 are gearing up to compete.<\/span><\/p>\n

These Drivers Are Proving That Endurance Racing Is the Next Step After F1<\/h2>\n

So, which F1 drivers are driving<\/a> in the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year? Last Word On Sports breaks it down.<\/span><\/p>\n

Felipe Nasr and Pascal Wehrlein<\/span><\/h3>\n

Felipe Nasr and Pascal Wehrlein lead Porsche Penske Motorsport\u2019s charge in the Hypercar class, piloting the Porsche 963. Both drivers bring F1 experience to the team. Nasr, who drove for Sauber in 2015 and 2016, scored points on his debut with a stunning P5 finish in Australia. <\/span><\/p>\n

Wehrlein, now reigning Formula E champion, raced in F1 with Manor and Sauber<\/a> between 2016 and 2017. He secured Manor\u2019s only point with a P10 in Austria. This marks Wehrlein\u2019s first Le Mans appearance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries <\/span><\/h3>\n

In the #7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid, Kamui Kobayashi and Nyck de Vries team up with Mike Conway. <\/span><\/p>\n

Kobayashi made his F1 debut with Toyota in 2009 and earned his only podium at the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix with Sauber. He later returned with Caterham in 2014. His endurance racing success is notable, including a 2021 Le Mans win. <\/span><\/p>\n

De Vries, meanwhile, debuted in F1 with Williams<\/a> at the 2022 Italian Grand Prix and raced for AlphaTauri in 2023. Though his F1 stint was short, he\u2019s a Formula E champion and a regular in the WEC.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sebastian Buemi and Brendon Hartley<\/span><\/h3>\n

Sebastian Buemi and Brendon Hartley, both former Toro Rosso drivers, race for Toyota again in the #8 car. <\/span><\/p>\n

Buemi raced in F1 from 2009 to 2011. He is a four-time Le Mans winner and a Formula E champion. Meanwhile, Hartley joined Toro Rosso in late 2017 and competed full-time in 2018. Since then, the New Zealander has collected three Le Mans wins and multiple WEC titles.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sebastien Bourdais and Jenson Button <\/span><\/h3>\n

Sebastien Bourdais and Jenson Button share the #38 Cadillac. <\/span><\/p>\n

Bourdais drove for Toro Rosso in 2008 and 2009 and has a class win at Le Mans in 2016. <\/span>Button may be more familiar to you. The 2009 F1 World Champion ended his F1 career with 15 wins and 50 podiums. Despite his F1 success, he is still chasing that 24 Hours of Le Mans win on his fourth appearance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Paul di Resta and Jean-Eric Vergne <\/span><\/h3>\n

Former Force India driver Paul di Resta and ex-Toro Rosso racer Jean-Eric Vergne line up in the #93 Peugeot. Di Resta, now a regular motorsport pundit, raced in F1 from 2011 to 2013 and had a one-off Williams drive in 2017. He\u2019s also a class winner at Le Mans in 2020. <\/span><\/p>\n

Vergne is currently a popular name in Formula E with two titles. He made his F1 debut in 2012 and is entering his fifth Le Mans.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kevin Magnussen <\/span><\/h3>\n

Kevin Magnussen<\/a> may have departed F1 in 2024 after Abu Dhabi, but his next adventure in endurance racing continues at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He returns for his second in the #15 BMW.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mick Schumacher<\/span><\/h3>\n

Mick Schumacher, formerly of Haas<\/a> and Mercedes in F1, joins Alpine for the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans. Having transitioned to endurance racing in 2023, he has two WEC podiums this season and is keen to make an impression at Le Mans.<\/span><\/p>\n

Antonio Giovinazzi <\/span><\/h3>\n

Former Alfa Romeo driver Antonio Giovinazzi, who won Le Mans with Ferrari<\/a> in 2023, returns with the #51 AF Corse entry. His time in F1 from 2017 to 2021 allowed him a successful endurance career, and he now is looking to help Ferrari extend their WEC lead.<\/span><\/p>\n

Stoffel Vandoorne <\/span><\/h3>\n

Stoffel Vandoorne drove for McLaren<\/a> in 2017 and 2018, and returns to Le Mans with Peugeot. The Belgian has since thrived in Formula E, winning the 2021\/22 championship. He now races alongside Loic Duval and Malthe Jakobsen. <\/span><\/p>\n

Will Stevens <\/span><\/h3>\n

Will Stevens, who once lent his drive to Caterham and Manor, walked away from F1 having never scored points in F1. He has since found success in endurance racing. He boasts class wins at Le Mans in 2017 and 2022, and in 2025, he will be aiming for glory in the #12 Cadillac. <\/span><\/p>\n

Jack Aitken <\/span><\/h3>\n

Jack Aitken drove for Williams during the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix. Despite having a small F1 career, he returns for his third Le Mans in the #311 Cadillac. He joins reserve drivers Felipe Drugovich (Aston Martin) and Frederik Vesti (Mercedes), who are hoping to impress.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pietro Fittipaldi <\/span><\/h3>\n

Pietro Fittipaldi, who stepped in for Haas during the 2020 F1 season, competes in LMP2 with United Autosports. He now races in IMSA and continues to build his endurance resume, this weekend adding to it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Andre Lotterer <\/span><\/h3>\n

Despite Andre Lotterer’s short-lived F1 career, which comprises a single race for Caterham in 2014, he is a seasoned Le Mans competitor. His 13th appearance this year comes in the LMP2 category, a first outside the top class.<\/span><\/p>\n

Robert Kubica <\/span><\/h3>\n

Robert Kubica was once a promising talent in F1 until a rally accident in 2011. Despite returning to the sport in 2019 with Williams, he is now an important name in endurance racing. He races in the WEC and has a European Le Mans Series title under his belt.<\/span><\/p>\n
