It didn’t seem to stop him from putting himself into early consideration for contending for his third win of the season. Denny put his No. 11 Progressive Toyota in the lead on several occasions during the opening stage, as others decided to run multiple pit strategies. That included Ryan Blaney running quite long during the opening stage.

The opening 91 laps went caution-free, and Hamlin was able to score the stage victory. A moment Stenhouse isn’t soon to forget.

The yellow is out as @StenhouseJr makes contact with the wall between Turns 3 and 4. pic.twitter.com/SuqVv26sJX

— NASCAR (@NASCAR) June 2, 2025

It led to another restart, with Ryan Blaney and William Byron among others cycling to the front. But like most NASCAR races, cautions breed cautions, and that was the theme of stage two. Not long after cleaning up Stenhouse’s incident. Noah Gragson and Alex Bowman got together, ending both drivers’ days. Gragson hit the wall at quite a high rate of speed, to say the least.

Trouble at the rear of the field!@NoahGragson and @Alex_Bowman both sustain damage. pic.twitter.com/XIyNOiSIUX

— NASCAR (@NASCAR) June 2, 2025

The constant restarts only made more trouble for some of the sport’s biggest names. The very next restart saw Christopher Bell get sent around after contact with Erik Jones as they fought well inside the Top 10 for position. Chase Elliott nearly got collected, but avoided the incident. However, he lost a lot of track position and was never really in contention again.

The final big incident of stage two saw Truck Series points leader Corey Heim make contact with Brad Keselowski and send Heim’s No. 67 into the wall. His second start of the season came to an abrupt end on lap 130.

Leaders Put on a Show for a Stage Win

The way the final laps of stage two played out felt like it was the battle for the race win. Hamlin had the lead, but was being run down by both Ryan Blaney and Byron. The three drivers put on quite a battle for the lead. It was a great part of the race, as all three drivers certainly showcased speed throughout the night. Byron got the lead for a lap from Hamlin, only for Blaney to slip past him and close out the stage win. All three drivers gave it their all, and there wasn’t any contact; that is how the racing should be.

What a move by @Blaney to take the lead!! 👏 pic.twitter.com/S3YmROE6Yo

— NASCAR (@NASCAR) June 2, 2025

Everything Pays Off Eventually

Good, hard racing certainly makes NASCAR exciting. That was the theme in the final 103 laps of the Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville. After a caution-filled second stage. The race went green for the final 103 laps. That made for plenty of battles throughout the field. Despite gaining on Blaney during the final green flag stops, and having Hamlin chasing him down at the same time. Hocevar had to settle for second.

Meanwhile, Blaney, who has had speed all season, had to fight through traffic. You’re talking about a driver who has had arguably the best car nearly every week, and just hasn’t had good luck. Blaney wasn’t going to be denied in Music City.
