The Spanish GP, which is no stranger to controversial moments, produced another shatter point moment in the Championship – courtesy of Max Verstappen<\/a> and George Russell<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Following a skirmish in Turn 1, Verstappen hit into his Mercedes rival in the second sector – resulting in a 10-second penalty that put him down in 10th.<\/p>\n

In a race where Piastri and Norris finished 1st and 2nd, this incident is extremely consequential in the standings.<\/p>\n

Piastri, who leads the Championship, is now 49 points ahead of Verstappen. Even in similar machinery, this gap would be difficult to overcome.<\/p>\n
