Arvid Lindblad and Luke Browning completed the podium.<\/p>\n<h2>Crawford Collects First F2 Seasonal Win in Imola<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"378\" data-end=\"620\">After having to settle for second place in <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2025\/04\/21\/triumph-and-uproar-at-the-2025-f2-jeddah-weekend\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Jeddah<\/a>, Jak Crawford got his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiaformula2.com\/Latest\/tV1UWgbU1AXXPqToY2vMg\/sprint-race-crawford-in-control-around-imola\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first win<\/a> of the season in the Imola Sprint Race. However, the driver to beat both of them, and the rest of the grid on the timesheet, was Dino Beganovic. He completed his lap in 1:27.418, putting himself on top.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"787\" data-end=\"1122\">With just 6 minutes to go, Kush Maini lost the car at Tamburello and hit the barrier. He did not manage to restart, especially given the high damage to the back of the car.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"787\" data-end=\"1122\">Clearing up required more time than expected, so the race director ended the session early.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1331\" data-end=\"1612\">Beganovic got his first pole position of the year, in front of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2025\/05\/07\/why-ferrari-could-struggle-to-salvage-the-sf-25\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Ferrari<\/a> fans who chanted his name, as he is a member of their academy. Ritomo Miyata and Crawford started on the front row in the Sprint Race, followed by Goethe and Browning in a reverse grid.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1614\" data-end=\"1765\">The championship leader, Richard Verschoor, has, so far, had a difficult time in <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2025\/05\/16\/imola-awaits-red-bulls-quest-for-stability-and-victory\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Imola<\/a>. This is due to a severe cold, which has interfered with his performance.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1614\" data-end=\"1765\"><strong>READ MORE:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2025\/05\/16\/imola-launches-the-f2-european-league\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Imola Launches the F2 European League<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Imola F2 Sprint race: As It Happened\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1809\" data-end=\"2164\">Miyata started in pole position but, after the lights went out, was quickly overtaken by Crawford, who had a better start.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1809\" data-end=\"2164\">At the back of the group, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2025\/03\/25\/top-5-title-contenders-for-the-2025-f2-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Gabriele Min\u00ec<\/a> and Pepe Mart\u00ec touched, with the Italian driver going off track and losing many positions. Mart\u00ec was given a five-second penalty for the incident.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2166\" data-end=\"2576\">Arvid Lindblad was also one of the drivers who quickly got on the pace and overtook Browning for third place. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gpblog.com\/en\/news\/horner-points-out-where-powerful-verstappen-lost-it-in-imola\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Red Bull<\/a> driver tried on multiple occasions to get in front of Miyata, but initially, the Japanese driver responded to Lindblad\u2019s attacks.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2166\" data-end=\"2576\">On Lap 12, the Campos Racing driver managed to overtake his opponent and quickly began to reduce the gap to Crawford in front. Maybe the gap was closing, I could already feel that when I got to less than 1.5, it started to become harder to catch. Just as you get the dirty air, you sort of lose a bit of grip. So it&#8217;s hard to know, but maybe.&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In addition, Luke Browning told <strong>LWOS<\/strong> about how to exploit what he learned in the Sprint for the feature race on Sunday.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>&#8220;It&#8217;ll be a slightly different strategy tomorrow. Obviously, we&#8217;ve got to keep the tyres a little bit longer. The option tyre stint will be important, maybe an overcut or undercut to start off with if we go option prime. But I think from where I&#8217;m starting, there is an opportunity to do the other strategy. So it&#8217;ll be interesting to see the way it plans out.
