Jack Doohan<\/a> says he is relatively unaffected by the uncertainty regarding his Alpine future. He argues that Alpine have shielded him from the speculation that continues to follow him in the media.<\/p>\n

Whilst this does not negate the genuine possibility that Colapinto could replace him later in the year, Doohan is standing firm.<\/p>\n

The Australian is confident in his abilities, and should have more opportunity to showcase them in the coming months.<\/p>\n

Doohan downplays F1 uncertainty<\/h2>\n

For all the frenzy F1’s driver market can produce, the scrutiny that Doohan faced in pre-season<\/a> was a very race occurrence.<\/p>\n

Drivers usually face some scrutiny about their contractual situations, especially when their existing deals are set to expire.<\/p>\n

With that said, there are few examples, if any, of suggestions emerging that a driver could be replaced after just five rounds – and at that, before even making their debut.<\/p>\n

However, this is the position that Doohan found himself in just a few months ago.<\/p>\n

Alpine’s executive advisor Flavio Briatore<\/a> failed to confirm the Australian would finish the 2025 season with the team.<\/p>\n

Franco Colapinto’s arrival in January, on a multi-year deal that was secured after paying a hefty fee to Williams, created a very obvious threat for Doohan’s seat.<\/p>\n

Despite this context, the 23-year-old insists that he is unaffected by the noise surrounding his future:<\/p>\n

“To be honest, I haven\u2019t really struggled with the pressure at all.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cFor sure, there have been a couple of instances like in Australia and Japan which you could potentially say that they could be pressure-related.<\/em><\/p>\n

“But in all honesty, being fully open, they both were not. <\/em><\/p>\n

“The team have done a great and amazing job as well to really take that away. Especially internally, which has been nice.<\/em><\/p>\n

“For me, I know the raw pace has been there since the start.<\/em><\/p>\n

“So that\u2019s also an inner confidence that I can take with me.<\/em><\/p>\n

“To know that as much as there is always going to be pressure and presence. To know that it wasn\u2019t getting to me.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Several paths available for Alpine<\/h4>\n

As mentioned previously, Franco Colapinto is ready to be called upon whenever Alpine see fit.<\/p>\n

The Argentine is keeping himself busy with his reserve driver duties in the simulator and TPC on-track testing.<\/p>\n

Flavio Briatore’s belief in Colapinto is well-established<\/a>, and is unlikely to go away in the short-term.<\/p>\n

Alpine certainly wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of breaking the 21-year-old from his Williams contract and signed a multi-year deal just to keep him on the sidelines indefinitely.<\/p>\n

However, as covered on LWOS, Alpine have been impressed by Doohan’s form.<\/p>\n

He has done enough, despite a few mistakes, to give himself some breathing space for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n

If Doohan can keep Pierre Gasly<\/a> honest and secure points, it become difficult for Alpine to justify a mid-season swap.<\/p>\n

Whilst this does not necessarily secure his position, it gives him a fighting chance – something many people did not afford the Australian when the season began.<\/p>\n

Should Alpine’s A525 continue to fight for points, the rookie will have a chance to try and cement himself at team Enstone.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
