{"id":3278,"date":"2018-02-26T13:07:29","date_gmt":"2018-02-26T18:07:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/?p=3278"},"modified":"2018-02-26T13:07:29","modified_gmt":"2018-02-26T18:07:29","slug":"formula-e-mexico-city-e-prix-preview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2018\/02\/26\/formula-e-mexico-city-e-prix-preview\/","title":{"rendered":"Formula E &#8211; Preview Of Mexico City E-Prix"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Round five of the <strong>Formula E<\/strong> season is here with the 2018 Julius Bar <strong>Mexico City E-Prix. <\/strong>The race is being held on the famous Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez track in Mexico City.<br \/>\nA month has passed since the last installment of the championship at the Santiago E-Prix and it will be interesting to see if <strong>Jean-Eric Vergne<\/strong> can maintain his lead of the Formula E drivers&#8217; championship.<\/p>\n<h1>Formula E &#8211; Preview Of Mexico City E-Prix<\/h1>\n<h2>Track Layout<\/h2>\n<p>The 2.092 km layout of the track was created for the arrival of Formula E in 2016, making use of the existing Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez Formula 1 circuit. At over 2500m above sea level, the track is not only the highest in the Formula E calendar but also one of the highest in the world. The track consists of 17 turns, and utilizes the famous Peraltada final corner along with the amazing stadium section.<\/p>\n<h2>Ones to Watch<\/h2>\n<p>After taking Techeetah\u2019s first double podium in <strong>Chile<\/strong>, it will be interesting to see if Jean-Eric Vergne and <strong>Andre Lotterer<\/strong> can repeat that performance. For Techeetah\u2019s sake, hopefully without any contact between the teammates this time since it almost cost them the race result.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Audi <\/strong>Sport ABT Schaeffler will be looking to tackle the problems with both of their drivers cars in Mexico City. Both drivers didn\u2019t finish the Santiago E-Prix and will be looking for a better result this time around.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DS Virgin Racing<\/strong> will be happy with another double-points finish. <strong>Sam Bird<\/strong> will be looking to move up the driver standings and hope that his car performs well in Round five. His teammate, <strong>Alex Lynn<\/strong>, will be taking a ten-place grid penalty for swapping out his gearbox for the second time this season. He retired in Santiago due to a gearbox problem, and Bird has suffered from similar issues but recovered to score points in each round.<\/p>\n<p>Another driver who will be determined to get a solid result is <strong>Sebastian Buemi<\/strong> of<strong> Renault<\/strong> e.dams. After placing third at the Santiago E-Prix, he will be looking to better that result at the Mexico E-Prix and hope he doesn\u2019t lose out to Renault\u2019s customer team <strong>Techeetah<\/strong> again. His teammate, Nico Prost hasn\u2019t been as lucky as Buemi. With Prost sitting fifteenth in the drivers&#8217; standings, he will be happy to score solid points for the team for the constructors&#8217; championship.<\/p>\n<h2>Driver Standings<\/h2>\n<p>1.
