Will the fifth twenty-five race in 2025 be Corey Heim versus the field, or will the field take another one?

Race Preview:

The Craftsman Truck Series Boys and Girls Club of Blue Ridge 200 is a 200 lap, 50 mile race around the half mile Martinsville Speedway. Stage cautions will come on laps 50, 100, and the checkered flag on lap 200. The prize purse for the race is $782,900 dollars.

This is the first race of the Triple Truck Challenge. The ‘Trip’ is a three-race in-season challenge; if a driver declared for Truck Series points wins either Martinsville, Bristol, or Rockingham, they will win $50,000 dollars as a bonus. If said driver can win two of the three, they will be awarded an additional $100,000. If all three races are won, they will win $150,000 dollars. An exciting addition to the racing action for the next three weeks.

The Track: Martinsville Speedway

One of the original tracks, Martinsville Speedway, has been on the NASCAR schedule since its first season in 1949. The Craftsman Truck Series first raced at Martinsville in 1995, when it was the NASCAR Super Trucks Series. Joe Ruttman won the first race. Johnny Sauter has the most wins at the track with 4, followed by a three-way tie for 2nd with two wins. Layne Riggs set the lap record last year with a 19.91-second lap.

Craftsman Truck Series Points Standings:

Here are the points standings following Homestead-Miami Speedway:

1. Corey Heim: 177
2. Ty Majeski: 169
3. Chandler Smith: 150
4. Grant Enfinger: 149
5. Stewart Friesen: 138
6. Tyler Ankrum: 127
7. Daniel Hemric: 125
8. Layne Riggs: 122
9. Jake Garcia: 103
10. Kaden Honeycutt: 101

Drivers To Watch:

We have some new drivers in the field. Luke Baldwin, son of Tommy Baldwin and a Modified racer, is making his first of three Truck Series starts for Thorsport. William Byron is piloting the #07 for Spire Motorsports. Byron won the Spring race in 2022 with Spire. Corey Day continues his development season in Trucks, racing the #7 for Spire. Lawless Alan is making his first start of the 2025 season, Alan is racing in the ARCA Menards Series in 2025.

READ MORE: Hendrick Motorsports Ensures Future, Signs 19-Year-old Corey Day

Let’s talk about predictions. It seems the only thing that can slow down Corey Heim is a burnt wire shutting off his truck. Corey won the spring race in 2023 but has finished outside the top five in the last two races. While Heim-time is upon us, keep an eye out for the field.

Layne Riggs seems to be the contender against Heim’s dominance in 2025. The track record holder in 2024, Riggs, didn’t hit his stride until the postseason, but unfortunately, he was not in it. This year, he is still on his stride again, finishing second to Kyle Larson last Friday night and fifth at Martinsville. I think Riggs will be the top Ford at Martinsville.

Larson took Spire to victory lane last week, I am taking William Byron as the top Chevy at Martinsville. He was the winner in 2022, he won the Cup race that weekend as well. It is hard to bet against the Cup guys in the field, but the Spire trucks are dialed in 2025, and good trucks with good drivers equal success.

READ MORE: Kyle Larson Rallies Late to Win Truck Series Race at Homestead

How to Watch the Truck Series at Martinsville:

The Boys and Girls Club of Blue Ridge at Martinsville Speedway takes place on Friday, March 27th.
