Oscar Piastri has extended his contract with McLaren F1<\/a>, cementing his position at Woking for the foreseeable future. After a series of successful years at McLaren, the Australian solidifies his place in the team’s project<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With the 2025 season just days away, only McLaren and Aston Martin have an unchanged driver line-up since last year.<\/p>\n

The British squad’s progression in recent years has been characterised by stability and continuity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

One of the many positives at McLaren is their driver pairing. Piastri and Norris have a combination of youth and speed – which the team look to build upon moving forward.<\/p>\n

McLaren, Piastri react to new contract<\/h4>\n

These are Oscar Piastri’s comments on his new deal:<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s a great feeling knowing that I\u2019m part of McLaren\u2019s long-term vision<\/strong>. <\/em><\/p>\n

“The team had the belief in me when we signed in 2022, and the journey we\u2019ve gone on over the past two seasons to help return McLaren to the very top of the sport has been incredible.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

“There are so many talented and special people working at the MTC who have helped me to become a Formula 1 race winner very early in my career. <\/em><\/p>\n

“Therefore, I\u2019m very proud to be continuing to represent this legendary team for many years to come<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

“I\u2019m excited to fight for the big prizes as a McLaren driver and after last year\u2019s fantastic achievements, it has made me even hungrier to stay at the sharp end.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Before this latest extension, Piastri’s contract was due to expire at the end of 2026.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This means the 23-year-old’s new deal is likely to keep him at Woking until at least 2028. It is no secret that McLaren are happy with driver line-up, and intend to maintain both their services.<\/p>\n

Team principal Andrea Stella has also commented on Piastri’s extension:<\/p>\n
