Oliver\u00a0Rowland\u2019s victory in the second Jeddah race was a redemption after the disappointment of the previous day when he lost the win despite leading most of the race due to an energy management issue.<\/p>\n

The Nissan powertrain has been performing well, allowing him to fight at the front in every race.<\/p>\n

However, in qualifying, Taylor Barnard was four-tenths quicker on Saturday in his NEOM McLaren<\/a> with the same powertrain.<\/p>\n

When we asked Rowland about the gap he acknowledged that but emphasized that Barnard had made a significant step forward with his confidence.<\/p>\n

“Taylor [Baranrd] made a good step overnight, and he was probably the reference in terms of speed. I knew I had to put it all on the table to beat him. I took some big risks and made mistakes, which exaggerated the gap.” – Oliver Rowland speaking to LWOS.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Reviewing the session afterward, Rowland noted that their performance was nearly identical before Turn 10, where he lost the rear.<\/p>\n

Maximizing the Break: Staying Sharp for Miami<\/h3>\n

Formula E<\/a> now enters a month-long break before the Miami E-Prix, a rare pause in the fast-paced championship.<\/p>\n

While some drivers might struggle with the downtime, Rowland embraces it as an opportunity to stay active and refine his approach. His schedule is packed with simulator work, trips to Italy and Barcelona to mentor his junior drivers.<\/p>\n

\u201cLess of a focus on saving energy, let’s say, and more of a focus on being fast, pushing hard, and trying to build gaps in certain phases of the race.\u201d – Rowland on the pit boost.<\/strong><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

While it added complexity by requiring teams to execute a pit stop and adjust their strategy, he actually found it made energy management easier. The extra element of decision-making brought a fresh challenge that he enjoyed, making races more dynamic.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, it actually brought an extra element of complexity because we had to handle strategy and we had to handle doing the actual pit stop, but it actually made the race a bit easier in terms of energy saving.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Rowland believes that the pit boost encourages a more aggressive and engaging style of racing.<\/p>\n

\u201cI enjoyed it, I thought it was a good addition, and I’m interested to see where it takes the racer.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
