During the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.skysports.com\/f1\/news\/12476\/11200056\/williams-reveal-significantly-different-2018-f1-car\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">press conference today<\/a><\/strong>, Lowe had this to say about the car: <em>\u201cAll Formula 1 cars are an evolution of what has gone before to some extent, but the FW41 does involve a number of departures from the directions that have been pursued in the past<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The car has many new features, most of which are not all that obvious, but externally the team has pursued a very different aerodynamic concept which has allowed us some significant progress in aerodynamic performance.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;All Formula 1 cars are an evolution of what has gone before to some extent, but the FW41 does involve a number of departures from the directions that have been pursued in the past.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Overall, the philosophy we are starting to see emerge is a new approach to the collaboration between aerodynamics and design to achieve the optimum working result.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Aerodynamics, structure <\/em>and<em> weight are the three major trades to be made in designing a Formula 1 car, and all the work, alongside a number of radical changes to the car&#8217;s packaging to incorporate further developments from Mercedes HPP, have led us to the FW41 being revealed today.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;We hope that this car will make progress in the performance rankings relative to 2017.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Claire Williams Optimistic<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Even more new blood gets added to the Williams team this year, following <strong>Felipe Massa<\/strong>\u2019s departure at the end of the 2017 season. 22-year-old <strong>Sergey Sirotkin<\/strong> will be alongside the youngest driver on the grid <strong>Lance Stroll<\/strong>, representing Williams. Last year, Sirotkin was a reserve driver for Renault, while driving breifly in the F2 series. The Russian replaced an injured Alexander Albon for two F2 races. In 2016, Sirotkin achieved two wins in the F2 series and placed third in the Championship standings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since Lance Stroll\u2019s arrival in the team, the word \u201cpay driver\u201d has been thrown around by fans and critics.
