Sergio Perez is among reportedly one of the American outfit&#8217;s leading contenders, with Perez&#8217;s camp understood to be in talks.<\/p>\n<p>The Mexican driver hits several key criteria that Cadillac are looking for &#8211; but this certainly does not guarantee his selection.<\/p>\n<h2>Why Sergio Perez is an obvious option for Cadillac<\/h2>\n<p>Despite spending four years at <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2025\/02\/07\/f1-news-red-bull-2025-car-will-have-small-operating-window\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Red Bull<\/a>, Perez&#8217;s reputation was arguably damaged by the time of his departure.<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the 35-year-old managed to hold his own and contribute effectively at Red Bull. This is not to suggest there aren&#8217;t teams who will change their driver line-up.<\/p>\n<p>Alpine, Red Bull and VCARB could all feasibly spring a surprise with their line-ups before the end of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Because of this, any conversations between Sergio Perez&#8217;s team and Cadillac will only be preliminary.<\/p>\n<p>The US outfit already have <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2025\/02\/05\/f1-cadillacs-leading-options-for-their-2026-lineup\/\" target=\"_self\">a significant pool of drivers<\/a>, from Herta to Bottas to Zhou, to consider.
