Lawrence Stroll&#8217;s squad will rely on Newey to produce his usual magic for the next generation of cars.<\/p>\n<p>However, there is also the question of how the British team will perform this season.<\/p>\n<p>After all, numerous senior personnel have indicated <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2025\/01\/17\/how-aston-martin-plan-to-reach-90-upgrade-success-rate\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Aston Martin cannot simply discard 2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Newey breaks down 2026 regulations<\/h2>\n<p>For obvious reasons, Aston Martin&#8217;s acquisition of Adrian Newey was one of last year&#8217;s main developments.<\/p>\n<p>The British engineer is as decorated as anyone, and is particularly effective at finding a cutting edge with new regulations.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to other senior personnel like Andy Cowell and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2025\/01\/03\/f1-news-aston-martin-reveal-ambitious-2025-objectives\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Enrico Cardile,<\/a> Newey will be a driving force heading into 2026.<\/p>\n<p>However, the 66-year-old cautions that power units could be the difference-makers in twelve months team.<\/p>\n<p>Considering <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2025\/01\/29\/f1-news-honda-admit-we-are-struggling-with-2026-engine\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Honda&#8217;s partnership with Aston Martin<\/a>, this is a critical element to consider:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;There has to be a chance that one manufacturer will come out well on top, and it will become a power unit dominated regulation &#8211; at least to start with.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;And there&#8217;s a chance, if it&#8217;s on the combustion engine side, that [advantage] will last through the length of the Formula.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Because the way the regulations are written, it&#8217;s quite difficult for people behind to catch up.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;If it&#8217;s on the electrical side, then there&#8217;s much more ability to catch up.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a id=\"7ZE0E-ETSgpUYO2XmQwmRw\" class=\"gie-single\" style=\"color: #a7a7a7; <\/em>he told Auto Motor und Sport.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;No doubt Lawrence [Stroll] will want me to be a little bit involved in the &#8217;25 car.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Whether I can really contribute anything or not &#8211; I&#8217;ve got no idea until I start.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Realistically, the chances of Newey significantly impact <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/11\/09\/aston-martin-data-for-2025-car-looks-encouraging\/\" target=\"_self\">Aston&#8217;s 2025 package<\/a> are relatively low.<\/p>\n<p>With F1 teams limited in their wind tunnel hours, the Silverstone factory cannot afford to sacrifice their 2026 project to compensate for the failures of recent seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Still, this does not mean Adrian Newey&#8217;s task will be any easier.
