Jaguar: Cassidy Penalty and Evans Crash Ruin Teams’ Hopes for the Race<\/h2>\n

Nick Cassidy – The Nightmare in Qualifying<\/h3>\n

Nick Cassidy<\/a>‘s weekend didn’t start as hoped. The New Zealander saw his qualifying lap being deleted due to a technical infringement. The irregularity in his car forced him to start from the back of the grid, in 22nd place.<\/p>\n

After the successful comeback of Mitch Evans in Sao Paulo, the team hoped to obtain some points in Mexico. However, that was not the case. Cassidy overtook some rivals, getting to the fourteenth position, but he couldn’t go any further.<\/p>\n

Cassidy is living a difficult start to the season. The Jaguar driver didn’t finish the Sao Paulo E-Prix, after being involved in an incident with Pascal Wehrlein<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After two races, he has scored no points and has to react in the next round to keep himself involved in the fight between the fastest drivers.<\/p>\n

Mitch Evans – From Win to DNF<\/h3>\n

Evans<\/a> arrived in Mexico City at the top of the standings. The Season 10 vice-champion had won the S\u00e3o Paulo E-Prix – the first race of the season. The New Zealander obtained the victory starting from last and was in the spotlight for the Brazilian weekend.<\/p>\n

The Kiwi started the weekend with a solid fifth position in qualifying, earned with a lap of 1:11.338. However, things didn’t go as expected during the race.<\/p>\n

The Jaguar driver lost three positions during the first laps of the Mexican E-Prix, dropping to P8.<\/p>\n

Things got worse for Evans when on lap 32, he made contact with Nico Mueller. The Andretti driver was in front of the New Zealander, but his pace was slightly slower. Evans didn’t react in time to avoid the incident and he finished the race with a DNF, causing a Safety Car.<\/p>\n

It was a frustrating result for Evans, who expected to fight for the highest positions.<\/p>\n

The Championships Situation<\/h3>\n

In Mexico, the Jaguar powertrain wasn’t as competitive as hoped, with Porsche dominating the top positions and Nissan winning the E-Prix. The team left Mexico City with no points, which made its championship situation difficult.<\/p>\n

In the Manufacturers’ standings, Jaguar are now third with 31 points. Their powertrain is used by Envision, who scored six points in Sao Paulo with Sebastien Buemi.<\/p>\n

Ahead of Jaguar are Porsche with 58 points and Nissan with 31. Jaguar have to watch their back from Mahindra, who are in fourth place with 22 points.<\/p>\n

In the Teams’ Championship, Jaguar is fourth with 25 points, tied with Nissan. The standings are dominated by Porsche with 58 points, followed by Mclaren with 29.<\/p>\n

The Drivers’ standings see Mitch Evans in third place, with 25 points collected in Brazil. He is tied with Oliver Rowland<\/a>, while Antonio Felix Da Costa<\/a> is first with 37.<\/p>\n

Jaguar will try to jump back during the next race weekend: the Jeddah E-Prix. The Saudi Arabian track will host the first double header of the season, with Evans and Cassidy in search of important points for the championships’ fights.<\/p>\n
