The German kept first place at the race start, with the twenty-two cars completing the first lap without incidents.

During the early stages of the race, the Porsche lineup held on to P1. In third place, was Oliver Rowland from Nissan, who appeared to be a possible contender for the win, but remained distant from first place.

At the beginning of the E-Prix, no one seemed capable of attacking Wehrlein and Da Costa, with the two having a great pace. As often happens in Formula E, things changed quickly.

Jake Dennis and Nico Mueller invited themself to the party, closing the gap and fighting for the first position against the Porsche lineup. The Mexico City E-Prix was full of surprises, with the standing twisting on lap 33: Oliver Rowland stepped in first place, overtaking three drivers during one lap.

The Mexican E-Prix was extended after two Safety Cars. On lap 29, the first yellow flag was shown. The Kiro Race car driven by David Beckmann had hit the wall. The race director decided on a Safety Car.

After a brief interruption of the E-Prix, the race was yellowed-flag once again: Mitch Evans was in the wall! Mueller and Dennis fought against Da Costa and Wehrlein for numerous laps and towards the end, Rowland also joined the battle.

The Porsche powertrain proved as fast as expected, with Porsche and Andretti fighting for the win in a tight confrontation. It is a great confirmation for Formula E, after Season 10 where the Attack Mode had been a deficit.

This season, things have been different. This element offered a pleasant performance to the fans.

Oliver Rowland’s Great Performance

Oliver Rowland became the first Formula E winner of 2025, collecting his first points of Season 11. In Brazil, the Brit finished in fourteenth place. Behind the Nissan driver were Da Costa and Wehrlein.

This marked the first time in the Gen3 era that the two Porsches stepped on the podium during the same race.

It was a great result for Rowland, who returned to Formula E in Season 10. The Brit had to face a not-so-brilliant strategy, which risked being ruined by the two Safety Cars.

The Nissan driver, however, managed to maintain the lead even during the final laps. Rowland pulled away from the Porsche drivers, crossing the line in first to collect the victory.

READ NEXT: Formula E: How Oliver Rowland Became Nissan’s Winning Choice

Oliver Rowland won the Formula E Mexico City E-Prix, surprising the Porsche lineup.
