On that occasion, he successfully defended his seventh position and earned his first two points of the season.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">In the next round, also at the Red Bull Ring, Schumacher executed a praiseworthy comeback. He moved from ninth to fourth place in the Feature race.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">However, Sunday&#8217;s race turned into a nightmare for him. Although he started in ninth and recovered to the podium, the fire extinguisher in his car was unexpectedly triggered during the race. This forced him to park the car and miss out on valuable points.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">In Hungary, Schumacher came close to achieving his first victory. After a battle with <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/10\/02\/callum-ilott-journey-back-to-prema\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Callum Ilott<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"> coming out of the pit stop, Schumacher found himself virtually in first place.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">However, his teammate, <\/span><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/11\/12\/shwartzman-completes-prema-lineup\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">Robert Shwartzman<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">, who was on fresh soft tyres, overtook him and secured his second victory of the season. He extended his lead in the championship while Schumacher was sitting in fourth.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">In the Feature Race, the young Ferrari Driver Academy driver secured his first podium, repeating the same result in the Sprint Race.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">At the British Grand Prix, Schumacher achieved his best qualifying result, placing third on the grid.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">At the start, he had softer tyres than the pole sitter, Felipe Drugovich, and he managed to overtake him to take the lead. Throughout the race, the two drivers fought for the win.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">However, what could have been a 1-2 finish turned into a bittersweet podium for Prema.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\"><span style=\"vertical-align: inherit;\">With two laps to go, Shwartzman and Schumacher collided, leading to Schumacher finishing in second position while Schwartzman was sent to the back of the grid. Over the next eighteen laps, he managed to recover seven positions. However, tyre management proved challenging for Ilott as well, and he gradually lost momentum in the standings.
