How Mick Schumacher Became the 2020 Formula 2 Champion<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n

Since 2017, seven FIA Formula 2 champions have been crowned. From Charles Leclerc to <\/span><\/span>Gabriel Bortoleto<\/span><\/span><\/a>, these champions had to give their best to outperform the other 19 drivers. Among them is Mick Schumacher, who won the Formula 2 title in the 2020 season.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The pandemic disrupted the 2020 season, creating uncertainty about whether and where the races would occur. Despite a shortened calendar, Schumacher excelled and secured the title, impressing Formula 1 teams that were closely watching his performance.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

One particularly striking aspect of his victory was that the battle for the title remained open until the last race. The points gap between drivers in the standings was extremely tight.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Schumacher finished just fifteen points ahead of third-place driver Yuki Tsunoda, while <\/span><\/span>this year’s champion<\/span><\/span><\/a> had a margin of 51 points. This reflects that several drivers had excellent skills and could have contended for the title.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Despite a challenging start to the season, Schumacher managed to outperform his rivals and claim the championship.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Mick Schumacher’s Career in the Feeder Series<\/span><\/span><\/h4>\n

In 2008, with the support of his father, Michael Schumacher, and the rest of his family, he raced his first karting championship under a pseudonym. This marked the beginning of Schumacher’s racing career, which progressed until 2014 when he made his debut in single-seaters.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

His first victory came in the ADAC Formula 4 Championship. Three years later he won the title in Formula 3 with Prema Racing. In the previous season, Schumacher faced significant challenges compared to his teammates, finishing last among four drivers in 12th position.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

However, his situation improved the following year, as he dominated the second half of the season. This allowed him to secure the title and move up to Formula 2 in 2019.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

His rookie season in Formula 2 was not remarkable, as he only managed one win and earned insufficient points to contend for the title. For his second year, the German driver recognized that things needed to change. He was determined to prove his worth at all costs.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
