Executive advisor <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/08\/27\/f1-news-briatore-has-no-idea-about-alpine-engine-plans\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Flavio Briatore<\/a> believes the team is making the necessary changes to climb the field.<\/p>\n<h2>Alpine &#8220;three year&#8221; timeline for F1 success revealed<\/h2>\n<p>Given how Alpine began the 2024 campaign, outscoring Haas to clinch 6th in the standings is an admirable recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Having eliminated the A524&#8217;s excess weight and brought some aerodynamic updates, the team made a big step forward.<\/p>\n<p>However, 6th place certainly isn&#8217;t a stand-out result for Alpine in the grand scheme of things.<\/p>\n<p>Considering they defeated <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/12\/09\/lando-norris-i-have-what-it-takes-to-be-champion-in-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">McLaren<\/a> for 4th in the constructors just two years ago, Alpine&#8217;s inability to become a top team is a clear limitation.<\/p>\n<p>Flavio Briatore, appointed as part of\u00a0 the team&#8217;s new management, has been given the authority to make whatever decisions he deems necessary to climb the field.<\/p>\n<p>Briatore was pleased with how Alpine finished the year, revealing his expectations for the future:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I want to congratulate everybody,&#8221; <\/em>he said in one of Alpine&#8217;s social media posts.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Because it is the team spirit &#8211; this is what I want.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I promised to Luca de Meo to put [together] a winning team in three years or whatever.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;We [need] to stay together strong, have a few more people with experience in the team &#8211; but the team is better.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;I like the team, the racing team is changing completely, [in] the pit-stops we are competitive &#8211; this is what I want&#8230;<\/em><em> We are producing a quick car.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a id=\"dLnfUogNRsdF6aE1GC1htA\" class=\"gie-single\" style=\"color: #a7a7a7; text-decoration: none; font-weight: normal !important; border: none; display: inline-block;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gettyimages.com\/detail\/2189127569\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Embed from Getty Images<\/a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'dLnfUogNRsdF6aE1GC1htA',sig:'gDvK-uuyKzCq6mbrQmUaNzfwhwdgUzFS-joqMdjW6zU=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'2189127569',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});<\/script><script src='\/\/embed-cdn.gettyimages.com\/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async><\/script><\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/12\/12\/haas-on-the-edge-due-to-low-number-of-staff-komatsu\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Haas &#8220;on the edge&#8221; due to limited personnel<\/a><\/p>\n<h4>Still plenty for Alpine to prove<\/h4>\n<p>From the outside, a lot of the instability that characterised Alpine in previous seasons continued in 2024.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/12\/06\/alpine-double-down-on-ocon-swap-were-not-here-to-be-nice\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Esteban Ocon&#8217;s awkward and abrupt departure<\/a> before the Abu Dhabi GP was the latest undesirable chapter in Enstone&#8217;s driver management.<\/p>\n<p>Reports of Briatore&#8217;s interest in Franco Colapinto, despite dying down in recent weeks, were legitimate.<\/p>\n<p>The fact that Alpine were in talks with Colapinto, having confirmed Doohan&#8217;s promotion in the summer, created another element of uncertainty around the team.<\/p>\n<p>As the likes of Sauber and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/12\/11\/williams-prepared-to-make-2025-sacrifices-for-2026-car\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Williams<\/a> look to progress, Alpine face an intense battle in next year&#8217;s midfield battle.<\/p>\n<p>Looking ahead to 2026 and beyond, the team&#8217;s ability to make tangible progress up the pecking order will be tested once more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After a miserable start to the season, Alpine&#8217;s COTA upgrades brought the A524 to life.
