After a very poor season, F1 Champion Jenson Button believes there is no reason for Red Bull to keep Perez next season.<\/p>\n<h2>Button: &#8220;I can&#8217;t see&#8221; Perez staying in F1<\/h2>\n<p>Considering that Perez has failed to finish in the top 5 since Miami, it is a minor miracle that he remains at Red Bull.<\/p>\n<p>A team once renowned for its ruthlessness has chosen to persist with a driver that is underperforming.<\/p>\n<p>Perez&#8217;s inability to fight at the front has cost Red Bull in the constructors battle, with either <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/11\/07\/f1-news-ferrari-upgrades-incoming-for-final-stretch-of-2024\/\" target=\"_self\">Ferrari<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/11\/09\/mclaren-constructors-title-always-our-priority\/\" target=\"_self\">McLaren<\/a> set to win the teams&#8217; title.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking ahead of the Qatar GP, Jenson Button spoke honestly about the 34-year-old&#8217;s future:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;For him to come out here today, and to put in a good result, is difficult when you&#8217;ve had such a negative run of results,&#8221; he said on Sky Sports.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a id=\"rfP_EbrfSdZSiQOZkx1DvA\" class=\"gie-single\" style=\"color: #a7a7a7; text-decoration: none; font-weight: normal !important; border: none; display: inline-block;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gettyimages.com\/detail\/2185731985\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Embed from Getty Images<\/a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'rfP_EbrfSdZSiQOZkx1DvA',sig:'O3NeWk6n18iyujoNtZtNTo_O9mge4Wb4czBlwmp9MTg=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'2185731985',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});<\/script><script src='\/\/embed-cdn.gettyimages.com\/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async><\/script><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;But if he comes out and has two magnificent races, beats Max Verstappen, he&#8217;s got a really good chance of keeping his drive.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Because everyone just thinks of that last race in this sport. But if it continues like it has continued, I can&#8217;t see him being here next year.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;He&#8217;s not going to be here [next year] for his performance, is he?&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As Button points out, it seems plausible that <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/11\/26\/f1-news-red-bull-not-confident-about-2025-package\/\" target=\"_self\">Red Bull<\/a> are ready to jump at any justification to keep Perez at the team.<\/p>\n<p>Even though two strong results to end 2024 would not compensate for his overall campaign,<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/10\/30\/christian-horner-confirms-red-bull-interest-in-franco-colapinto\/\" target=\"_self\"> Red Bull are still analysing their driver situation<\/a> on a race-by-race basis.<\/p>\n<p>With that said, there is no evidence that Perez can step up and perform at the required level.<\/p>\n<p>After managing 18th fastest in Qatar&#8217;s only practice session, another unsatisfactory result seems on the horizon.<\/p>\n<p>With <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/11\/29\/helmut-marko-tsunoda-needs-more-stability-for-red-bull-seat\/\" target=\"_self\">Yuki Tsunoda<\/a> and Liam Lawson waiting in the wings, only time will tell if Red Bull pull the trigger and make a long overdue change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>With\u00a0Sergio Perez failing to secure results, debate about his Red Bull future continues.
