His failure to optimise the RB20 has pushed Red Bull to looking at alternatives for 2025 &#8211; including Liam Lawson and Franco Colapinto. However, there is still a chance that Perez will retain his place at the team.<\/p>\n<h2>Sergio Perez under pressure to deliver results<\/h2>\n<p>Amidst all of <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/10\/28\/f1-news-sergio-perez-could-be-replaced-before-season-ends\/\" target=\"_self\">Perez&#8217;s struggles<\/a>, Red Bull have worked to find solutions for the Mexican driver.<\/p>\n<p>Even after a difficult 2023 campaign (where Perez finished almost 300 points behind Verstappen), the Milton Keynes squad did not change their driver line-up.<\/p>\n<p>In a similar way, Red Bull are still undecided about who will partner Max Verstappen next season.<\/p>\n<p>Although Perez&#8217;s lack of points are costing the team in the constructors, a final decision on his future has not been made.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"kkZKjAh2QJJC11rXwpQABg\" class=\"gie-single\" style=\"color: #a7a7a7; text-decoration: none; font-weight: normal !important; border: none; display: inline-block;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gettyimages.com\/detail\/2182518413\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Embed from Getty Images<\/a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'kkZKjAh2QJJC11rXwpQABg',sig:'8dqUuvnIHNqfFBODcQfHmWFNtHnkaWGrsN9Y8RHGDnU=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'2182518413',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});<\/script><script src='\/\/embed-cdn.gettyimages.com\/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async><\/script><\/p>\n<p>As it stands, there are two main candidates that could replace Perez.<\/p>\n<p>The first is <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/10\/28\/sergio-perez-liam-lawson-needs-to-be-a-bit-more-humble\/\" target=\"_self\">Liam Lawson<\/a>, who team principal Christian Horner holds in high regard.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/11\/09\/yuki-tsunoda-red-bull-promotion-unlikely-despite-strong-results\/\" target=\"_self\">Yuki Tsunoda<\/a> has performed well this year, Lawson is the person Red Bull see as a more viable candidate for promotion.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in the paddock, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/11\/10\/franco-colapinto-2025-seat-very-likely-reveal-his-management\/\" target=\"_self\">Franco Colapinto<\/a> is establishing himself as a hugely exciting talent.<\/p>\n<p>The 21-year-old has already attracted Red Bull&#8217;s attention, with the reigning Champions willing to overlook their own junior talent to negotiate with Colapinto.<\/p>\n<p>However, amidst all these different scenarios, Sergio Perez could still retain his seat.<\/p>\n<h3>Red Bull could retain the status quo<\/h3>\n<p>According to a recent report from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marca.com\/en\/f1\/2024\/11\/10\/673136f822601d8e4a8b4574.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MARCA<\/a>, a fresh wave of sponsorship could help Sergio Perez stay at Red Bull in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>The Spanish outlets suggests that Perez brings $30 million of sponsors to the team &#8211; a massive figure.<\/p>\n<p>Although this will not be the only factor Red Bull are taking consideration, finances certainly play a role.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"89o-KXNsR_xgrdOXMWhykQ\" class=\"gie-single\" style=\"color: #a7a7a7; text-decoration: none; font-weight: normal !important; border: none; display: inline-block;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gettyimages.com\/detail\/2182128666\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Embed from Getty Images<\/a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'89o-KXNsR_xgrdOXMWhykQ',sig:'XOzcpwXTwhAcxZYNSl8mR3FReTj3B4YtLnTPZnjCPw0=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'2182128666',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});<\/script><script src='\/\/embed-cdn.gettyimages.com\/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async><\/script><\/p>\n<p>Of course, the 34-year-old is not the only driver on the grid who brings in a large number of sponsors.<\/p>\n<p>Franco Colapinto is already having a huge commercial impact at Williams &#8211; which is almost certainly an added incentive for Red Bull to pursue his services.<\/p>\n<p>Still, the fact remains that Red Bull could be tempted to keep the same driver line-up.<\/p>\n<p>There have been plenty of opportunities to make changes over the last eighteen months, yet none have been taken.<\/p>\n<h3>Final decision expected after final race<\/h3>\n<p>This does not mean that Perez is necessarily safe. Christian Horner&#8217;s comments in recent weeks are clear evidence that Red Bull are running out of patience.<\/p>\n<p>With that said, the last two seasons have revealed that Perez is not seen as easily replaceable at Milton Keynes.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, contract negotiations with <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/11\/08\/williams-crisis-spare-parts-not-sufficient-for-final-races\/\" target=\"_self\">Williams<\/a> over Franco Colapinto will be far from complex.<\/p>\n<p>Red Bull might be unsatisfied by their contract talks with the British team, thus depriving them of a leading candidate.<\/p>\n<p>As ever, predicting the F1 driver market is tricky &#8211; and this is especially true for Red Bull.<\/p>\n<p>Over the next few weeks, more clarity will emerge on the direction Horner&#8217;s squad pursue.
