In addition to looking at <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/10\/14\/how-red-bull-are-failing-tsunoda-and-lawson\/\" target=\"_self\">Yuki Tsunoda and Liam Lawson<\/a> as candidates for a 2025 seat, the reigning champions are evaluating options elsewhere. One of them is understood to be <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/10\/22\/f1-news-franco-colapinto-lauded-for-high-level-technical-feedback\/\" target=\"_self\">Franco Colapinto<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2>Colapinto on Red Bull&#8217;s radar for the future<\/h2>\n<p>On numerous occasions in recent weeks, Christian Horner and Helmut Marko have delivered blunt statements about Sergio Perez&#8217;s future.<\/p>\n<p>Both senior Red Bull personnel have insisted that putting together the strongest driver line-up possible is their priority.<\/p>\n<p>As Ferrari and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/10\/23\/mclaren-hint-at-bigger-upgrades-for-upcoming-races\/\" target=\"_self\">McLaren<\/a> assert themselves as title contenders (for next season as well as this one), Red Bull cannot persist with a driver that simply fails to deliver.<\/p>\n<p>On paper, Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda are the most obvious replacements. With that said, other drivers outside of the Austrian team&#8217;s academy are also being considered.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report from Sky Italy earlier this week, Red Bull have probed Franco Colapinto&#8217;s management about his openness to joining their driver set-up.<\/p>\n<p>Whether Colapinto is seen as a direct replacement for Perez is unclear, though it seems more likely he is seen as a valuable asset to have at VCARB.<\/p>\n<p>Either way, Christian Horner&#8217;s squad have taken notice of his performances and obvious potential.<\/p>\n<h3>Williams ties complicate a Franco Colapinto move<\/h3>\n<p>Speaking to the media in Mexico earlier this week, Helmut Marko responded to this report.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;He [Colapinto] arrived with ice-cold determination,&#8221; he told Kleine zeintug.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a id=\"vvPTmXceTSBhbZDMVBlQLQ\" class=\"gie-single\" style=\"color: #a7a7a7; text-decoration: none; font-weight: normal !important; border: none; display: inline-block;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gettyimages.com\/detail\/2181043032\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Embed from Getty Images<\/a><script>window.gie=window.gie||function(c){(gie.q=gie.q||[]).push(c)};gie(function(){gie.widgets.load({id:'vvPTmXceTSBhbZDMVBlQLQ',sig:'k_Rtfbh-oF8vM4uxpVDceF-qLyYVmXnKIgV_rMb2KuY=',w:'594px',h:'396px',items:'2181043032',caption: true ,tld:'com',is360: false })});<\/script><script src='\/\/embed-cdn.gettyimages.com\/widgets.js' charset='utf-8' async><\/script><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Even though he was thrown in at the deep end like Liam Lawson.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;One thing is clear, in Formula 1 everyone talks to everyone.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The problem with him is that he has a long-term contract with Williams.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Colapinto&#8217;s ties with Williams are also <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/10\/23\/james-vowles-reveals-colapinto-chances-at-sauber-and-vcarb\/\" target=\"_self\">complicating his chances of joining Sauber in 2025<\/a>. Most teams are unwilling to sign a driver they know will leave within a few seasons.<\/p>\n<p>Even from the Colapinto perspective, signing a contract with Sauber &#8211; especially whilst the likes of Red Bull are monitoring his progress &#8211; would perhaps be a hasty decision.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, it would be premature to suggest that the 21-year-old is on his way to <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/10\/25\/sergio-perez-red-bull-on-top-of-main-performance-issue\/\" target=\"_self\">Red Bull<\/a>. There are several obstacles that would make such a move logistically very complex.<\/p>\n<p>However, there can be no denying that Colapinto will be a highly sought-after prospect for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n<p>From Red Bull&#8217;s perspective, the Argentine&#8217;s fantastic performances serve as a reminder of the young talent they are potentially obstructing with their current driver line-up.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The pressure continues to increase for Sergio Perez, following yet another unsatisfactory result for Red Bull.
