The Enston-based team has been fighting the whole season against itself. The A524 project didn\u2019t improve as expected, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/03\/25\/alpine-whats-going-on-in-the-french-team\/\" target=\"_self\">key figures have said their goodbyes<\/a>. Even Esteban Ocon has decided to leave behind the pink and blue for a more stable white, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/07\/16\/esteban-ocon-set-to-join-haas-in-2025\/\" target=\"_self\">joining Haas in 2025.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>But, we must admit that Alpine is trying. In order to try to resurrect the team, Luca De Feo, CEO of Renault, decided to call back <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2023\/09\/13\/f1-crashgate-the-endless-saga\/\" target=\"_self\">Flavio Briatore<\/a>. The Italian manager is now the executive advisor and he made some changes. After all, Briatore is not a stranger to Formula 1 or winning.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">A day of two halves for the team \ud83d\udc94 <a  href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/eGIMnV2Uxo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/eGIMnV2Uxo<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 BWT Alpine F1 Team (@AlpineF1Team) <a  href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlpineF1Team\/status\/1834952322666877390?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">September 14, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>But besides all the efforts, everything is uncertain for the French team\u2014even their presence on the grid for upcoming seasons.<\/p>\n<h4>Under a new management<\/h4>\n<p>One of Briatore\u2019s first moves since returning to Alpine was replacing Bruno Famin with a new Team Principal, Oliver Oakes. He\u2019s one of the youngest TPs on the grid alongside Christian Horner. According to the executive advisor, the old management wasn\u2019t what the team needed.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cEnstone it\u2019s difficult to manage. It\u2019s a monster. You can\u2019t do it from Paris or whatever, it\u2019s required to be present all the time\u201d <strong>&#8211; Flavio Briatore.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Now, Oakes seems to fit Briatore\u2019s standards: young and full of passion, as he said.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of a young addition to the team, there is also a new driver. After Ocon decided to leave, there were few candidates for his seat. From the paddock in Baku, Briatore revealed that they were trying to sign <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2024\/08\/07\/williams-carlos-sainz-will-bring-pressure-in-a-good-way\/\" target=\"_self\">Carlos Sainz<\/a>, but things didn\u2019t go as expected. From FP1, Ocon and Gasly struggled in their cars. Ocon had to retire from FP1 due to a problem with his Power Unit and qualified in P20. On Sunday morning, Alpine communicated that the driver had to start from the pit lane after the team worked on his car under parc ferm\u00e9 conditions.<\/p>\n<p>On the other side of the box, Gasly should\u2019ve started his race in P13, but he was disqualified after his car was found to have <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.formula1.com\/en\/latest\/article\/breaking-gasly-disqualified-from-qualifying-at-azerbaijan-grand-prix-over.6ks7FOpUxuLLpmKwmX1xwh\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>\u201cexceeded the instantaneous fuel mass flow\u201d.\u00a0<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">An update on Pierre\u2019s Qualifying today. <a  href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/YfPu3Ar4v7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pic.twitter.com\/YfPu3Ar4v7<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 BWT Alpine F1 Team (@AlpineF1Team) <a  href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AlpineF1Team\/status\/1835004929326346491?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">September 14, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>At the end, both cars finished their race outside the point zone, Gasly in P12 and Ocon in P15. Not the worst results, but things could have been better.<\/p>\n<p>But there are only 7 races left, and the French team has to resolve all their issues for the upcoming season.
