{"id":2309,"date":"2017-09-01T10:15:33","date_gmt":"2017-09-01T14:15:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/?p=2309"},"modified":"2017-09-01T10:15:33","modified_gmt":"2017-09-01T14:15:33","slug":"2309","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/motorsports\/2017\/09\/01\/2309\/","title":{"rendered":"Felipe Massa considering Formula E switch"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Felipe Massa<\/strong> has admitted that he is not ruling out a switch from <strong>Formula 1<\/strong> to <strong>Formula E\u00a0<\/strong>in the future as the all-electric single seater racing series is increasing in popularity, with a number of manufacturers such as<strong> Mercedes<\/strong>, <strong>Porsche<\/strong> and <strong>BMW<\/strong> set to join the grid.<\/p>\n<h2>Felipe Massa considering Formula E switch<\/h2>\n<p>Last year, Massa looked set to make a full-time move to Formula E after announcing his retirement from F1. However, following the retirement of <strong>Nico Rosberg<\/strong> and when <strong>Valtteri Bottas<\/strong> was drafted into Mercedes for 2017, came back to F1 to partner <strong>Lance Stroll<\/strong> at <strong>Williams<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After I decided to retire from F1 I did a test with Jaguar,&#8221; said Massa.\u00a0&#8220;I think it&#8217;s a fantastic series and I see a great future when I decide to stop F1.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the paddock, rumours surround Massa and his place at Williams, with <strong>Fernando Alonso<\/strong>, <strong>Carlos Sainz Jr<\/strong> and <strong>Sergio Perez<\/strong>\u00a0all being linked to his seat for 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Massa responded to these rumours when talking to Brazil&#8217;s Globo:\u00a0&#8220;I feel like I&#8217;m still competitive and so that is motivating,&#8221; he said. &#8220;But it is true that I do not want to stay in F1 to be at the back of the grid.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Massa currently lies in 11th place in the Drivers&#8217; Championship with 27 points to his name and is having a season of mixed results.
